Ratchaburi police were called after the driver of a pick-up lost control of his vehicle in the Don Krabuang sub-district on the Petchkasem Highway yesterday.

He was among a family of six from Bangkok going away for a holiday.

Witnesses and dash cam footage indicated the driver was in the right hand lane. He had suddenly veered toward the central median before trying to correct the vehicle that went into a multiple roll, went into the ditch on the left, hit a drainage pipe, flew into the air and ended up at the entrance to a second hand electrical store.

Dead at the scene were Bunmee, 65, and Saithip, 24, who was six months pregnant. The baby also died.

Taken to Potharam Hospital were the driver Saman, 48, Saifon, 18, Thippawan, 41, and an unidentified woman who also later died.

They were all from the same family.

Also found dead at the scene were a dog and a white egret.

A squirrel was trapped in a cage.

The family's clothes and other possessions that had been in the trunk of the car were scattered all over the place.

also took out a dog and an egret, were they in

the truck, or just happened to be in the way,

Probably all in cages along with the squirrel ?   bit strange to be taking them all on holiday too.

Three people died, as mentioned above. 2 at the scene, and an unidentified woman later in hospital. So the driver is still with us it seems.

R.I.P. to the victims especially an unborn child who will never feel the sun or wind.

Might well be another fallen asleep on the wheel.

Veered to the central divider, woke up, panically steering to the left.

Long weekend ahead. Prepare for more.

The chance of dying on the roads far surpasses death from, or related to this latest virus. The government response to both is lopsided and unbelievable.
