webfact
Thai road carnage: Pregnant woman among three dead on Petchkasem Highway Picture: Daily News Ratchaburi police were called after the driver of a pick-up lost control of his vehicle in the Don Krabuang sub-district on the Petchkasem Highway yesterday. He was among a family of six from Bangkok going away for a holiday. Witnesses and dash cam footage indicated the driver was in the right hand lane. He had suddenly veered toward the central median before trying to correct the vehicle that went into a multiple roll, went into the ditch on the left, hit a drainage pipe, flew into the air and ended up at the entrance to a second hand electrical store. Dead at the scene were Bunmee, 65, and Saithip, 24, who was six months pregnant. The baby also died. Taken to Potharam Hospital were the driver Saman, 48, Saifon, 18, Thippawan, 41, and an unidentified woman who also later died. They were all from the same family. Also found dead at the scene were a dog and a white egret. A squirrel was trapped in a cage. The family's clothes and other possessions that had been in the trunk of the car were scattered all over the place. CelticBhoy
That is quite possibly the most awful story I have ever read. An entire family ruined. Dreadful. 2
Popular Post worgeordie
Another one going too fast, by the look of the truck, RIP, dreadful waste of life, the unborn never had a chance to live, also took out a dog and an egret, were they in the truck, or just happened to be in the way, regards Worgeordie
Popular Post VyacheslavKHV
It will never stop. They don't care about speed limits or any simple sense on the road. Government seems to be OK with this too and even decreased traffic violation fees last week. Edited September 1, 2020 by VyacheslavKHV 7
Popular Post colinneil
Heart breaking reading stories like this, a family destroyed, probably due to the clown driving thinking he was the best/ fastest driver on the road. When oh when are drivers here ever going to learn? R.I.P. too the victims, a young woman probably excited about the birth of her child, a poor child never going to have the chance to live. I wonder who/ what the driver will blame. 8

Three people died, as mentioned above. 2 at the scene, and an unidentified woman later in hospital. So the driver is still with us it seems. R.I.P. to the victims especially an unborn child who will never feel the sun or wind.

Benmart
The chance of dying on the roads far surpasses death from, or related to this latest virus. The government response to both is lopsided and unbelievable.

SteveK
Shocking, and to think that clamping down on poor driving/un-roadworthy vehicles and bad roads would be a relatively straightforward exercise. I also feel sorry for the dog, the white egret and the squirrel.
Hank Gunn
Well, at least we know that fatalities of “big bike” riders will be reduced, if not completely eliminated, now that they have to get a special license. (Yes, that was meant sarcastically.) Perhaps they could implement a similar licensing regime for any vehicle that can travel over 20 km/hr. Oh wait, never mind. Popular Post Aussiepeter
Colin, only you (and he knows, as he too was a victim) some people still wonder why I took my family to live in Oz, seven years ago ! Our beautiful daughter had just turned three. After nearly being killed for the umpteenth time on a visa run to Maisai and after 13 years of breathing the filth called "air" in C Mai, plus all the BS, I called it quits. Been back to LOS twice on holiday, but wifey now says "she's never going back". She has Oz citizenship. Our daughter is now ten and can't speak a word of Thai, but I show her the car smash photos and the road accident stats on TV (here), so that she can truly appreciate just how lucky she is to live in the real world. People on here like to dump on Australia - but I've had the safest seven years of driving in my entire life since returning. The cops here in NSW are real. They breathalyse all the time in our little town and the highway patrol are 'deadly' on speeding motorists. My Thai missus loves it, as she feels safe. She talks to her family every day on her IPAD and told them about not seeing a 'prang' in over seven years. She sees the carnage in LOS every day on Thai news and just smirks and says "that's Thailand - I am staying here". Oddly, on the ABC news tonight they said "people in this State (NSW) now have a higher chance of death from drug overdose, than car-accident." Good police work, works. Never going to happen in LOS. Ever. Amen.

I have to agree with you completely. Hence why we have as nation of sheeple. Quote Noun. sheeple pl (plural only) (derogatory, slang) People who unquestioningly accept as true whatever their political leaders say or who adopt popular opinion as their own without scrutiny.
