Two Hua Hin schools shut down over news of border crossings

Two schools in Prachuap Khiri Khan province have been instructed to cancel classes for a week after it was discovered that many migrant students and their guardians had visited their country by crossing the natural borders.

Provincial governor Pallop Singhaseni said on Tuesday (September 1) that he will close Anun School and Wang Ta Krai School until September 7.

Anun School has 576 students, of which 300 are migrants, while Wang Ta Krai School’s 310 students include 45 migrants.

After some Anun School students did not show up in class due to high fever, officials looked into their case and learned that their parents or relatives had recently returned from Thailand-Myanmar border areas. The children will need to spend 14 days quarantine under the supervision of health volunteers before returning to school.

Meanwhile, though Wang Ta Krai School has not reported any suspicious infections, it has decided to close just in case.

Health inspectors from the Public Health Ministry and personnel from Hua Hin Hospital have taken fluid samples from people potentially at risk to test for Covid-19 and results will be released in a day.

How can Thailand still quote no domestic infections when this is going on?

People openly crossing natural borders and bring back children showing signs of infections who are then allowed to mingle with the local population?

And the panicking begins. How can the country ever open his borders again, if people freak out, already before there are any sbstantial results available. It is still a flue.

The outbreaks are basically centered on Rakhine State, adjacent to Bangladesh and Yangon the capital city. Neither very close to the Thai border, and miles from Hua Hin.

Chill for Buddha's sake. They uncovered the issue, reported it and have taken quick action.

The whiners can have their day if it spreads.

I don't think it will spread - face masks and those million health volunteers.

No Aussie quarantine stuff ups here 😷

Cheaters and corruption at the borders should scare the crxp out of all of you who

have children and live in that area.  Shame on all the people who have caused this.

Good Luck Thailand, you certainly need it.

Silly me, I thought border patrols watching borders for natural crossing since they know that where could be those cross spots. 🤨🤔🤪😃🤣
