The new Holiday Inn Express, which opened a few months before Covid hit is closed...until at least 1 April. But I suspect it will be much longer. Brooklyn Diner opposite Soi LK Metro is closed. The newish (and big) P Plus Hotel on Soi Excite, which opened about a year before Covid hit, is closed. Only a lone guard in the booth guarding this empty investment. It is a visual record of the places we have lost...some temporarily others permanently. It is not to be negative. I didn't say the HI just closed...or any of the others just closed. This isn't a flashing news thread but a record of what has happened. Brooklyn Diner may have been for sale for awhile but as recently as a month or so ago it was open. Pattaya Spotter Posted February 6, 2021 Author Share Posted February 6, 2021 (edited) In an act of complete insanity (or confidence in Pattaya's future), someone has decided that now, in the midst of the greatest health and economic calamity to hit the world (and Thailand) in a century and which has devastated the tourism industry, is the perfect time to open a swanky whisky bar smack dab in the heart of Soi Bua Kaow (perhaps the rent was too cheap to pass up). Old No. 7 Bar is located opposite Sawasdee Siam Hotel and as you can see from the pictures is a beautiful space...someone really took some time, and spent some baht, to get this place up and running. It would look completely at home on Soi Thonglor or Ekkamai in Bangkok. They just opened their doors this week and the owner/manageress says she will have a full complement of hostesses in a week or two. Volare was a very busy and successful business, until they decided that was not enough. Not even sure why you would even bother mentioning The Bistro.
