In fact "Jong" and Pensri, 40, had only been together for two months. Thung Song police in the Pak Praek sub-district of Nakhon Sri Thammarat in the south of Thailand found Pensri in bed in a single story house. She had an axe wound to the head. Jong, known only by his nickname, had fled the scene. Saddened witnesses and relatives told the police that Pensri's new husband was a very jealous man and the couple were constantly bickering. When an argument broke out on Monday night no one thought to intervene. When Pensri didn't emerge on Tuesday morning the alarm was raised. Thung Song police chief Pol Col Sompong Thipaphakun confirmed that Jong was the only suspect and that they were hunting for him.
