webfact
Thai immigration arrest four Bangladeshis for illegal entry and two Thai men who helped them Picture: Daily News The chief of the Prachuap Khiri Khan immigration announced the arrest of four Bangladeshi men and two Thai taxi drivers yesterday. They were stopped at a checkpoint in the Sam Roi Yot area on Petchkasem Road heading south. The Bangladeshis were charged with entering Thailand illegally and the Thais with aiding and abetting. Picture: Daily News Pol Col Sutthipong Phuttipong said this was all part of immigration chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang's orders to keep Thailand safe and stop illegal immigrants entering especially during the Covid-19 crisis. He said that the disease can be brought into Thailand from abroad and his men had cooperated with the Sam Roi Yot police in the arrests. Picture: Daily News Though it was not specifically mentioned in the Daily News report it appears that the illegal immigrants entered Thailand through a "natural border" bypassing immigration. sirocco
Not Mah'med, all the same. A Muslim would never dare to do that. As he has papers in hand, he must have been the policeman who arrested the illegals and drivers.

I remember years ago a ferang who bypassed the unnatural (official) border in Nong Khai. He told me he exited Thailand, arrived on the Laos side, to realise the Laos visa fee was more than he expected. There were no cash machines on the Laos side in those days. As he couldn't return to Thailand due to not being stamped in and out of Laos, his only option was to get on the bus back to the Thai side and walk around the back of the Thai immigration office into Thailand. He got a tuk tuk into Nong Khai and used the ATM machine there. Again he walked around the back of Thai immigration, challenged by no one, and caught the bus to the Laos side and got his visa. 1

alacrity
Job well done. Hope an honest Investigation into their destination and intent takes place. Drug trafficking, human trafficking, piracy and terrorism are quite common in Bangladesh.
