Neeranam
One of my daughters, aged 17, has a slightly painful lump on her breast. Obviously she'll see a doctor, but any recommendations as to what kind of a doctor to see? Worried. Edited September 13, 2020 by Neeranam
RotBenz8888
Firstly, age and the fact that it's painful speaks against cancer. If it's an abscess, antibiotics won't do the job. See a general surgeon.

lopburi3
For a growth I had as male (not malignant) it was a dermatologist and did not require surgery but did require injection. But for a female believe it is normal to have GP or GYN exam.

Same thing with someone suggesting going to a general surgeon? Who tf discovers he has a health problem and books directly an appointment with a surgeon lol? Just bring her to her GP. Because it is almost impossible to find a GP in the Thai medical system - Thailand directly books with specialists.

Thailand does nto have a strong GP system, it is not at all like in western countries. Definitely would nto see a Thai GP for a breast lump. OP, she should see a specialist in breast surgery (does NOT mean they will want to operate). Where are you located? But first, before panicking, I would wait to see if it disappears or gets much smaller right after her next menstrual cycle. If it does, this is useful info for the doctor. It is almost certainly a cyst and may not need any treatment or just simple needle aspiration. Cysts are common and benign, but they do sometimes get inflammed or infected. It is common for cysts to get larger and be tender premenstrually.

BritManToo
Would mention there's a lot of infected insect bites around at the moment, monsoon always causes problems. They can produce large and painful lumps ..... strep infection under the skin. Needs antibiotics, see a doctor immediately, don't wait. Easily fixed. You didn't specify if there's a small puncture wound. Edited September 13, 2020 by BritManToo
