Songkhla province has decided to castrate 200 monkeys on Khao Tang Kuan hill due to increasing problems for locals from their mounting population.

Hunger is taking the monkeys to the city where they forage for food in dustbins and even attack people.

The officials trapped the monkeys by putting food inside cages, then sedated them with tranquilisers and documented them.

After the castration, they will be taken care of by vets for one or two days to see whether they suffer any side-effects from the operation before sending them back to the habitats.

The project to solve the monkey problems in Songkhla, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat province is being conducted from September 7-16. The goal is to castrate 400 monkeys. Until Sunday, 200 monkeys had undergone the operation.

Maybe, just maybe, you are slightly confused about the meaning of cull.  You are for "culling all" whereas to cull actually means to select or choose someone or something from a group and to control the size of a group of animals by killing only some of the animals.

'nuf sed.

If i recall correctly there is a budget for this and it is a big budget.

But the money is gone and not a lot happened to the monkeys.

Where i live they put up the cage one day only, caught a few monkeys, took some pictures and done!

Now people are not only feeding soi dogs but monkeys as well, they just don't get it.

If Australia can sell Camels to Saudi Arabia for racing, why cant Thailand sell the Saudi's Monkeys to be used as jockey's

Add a few free ones as stable hands :cheesy:

I think it depends on how many beers the monkeys had the night before, as to whether they have stable hands.

But, this can be of more use on other groups that are creating a racket. Like Win drivers, bus drivers and so on.

That'll stop 'em talking b*ll*cks.
