Well I suggested the government think of new holidays

Every month to encourage internal tourism

Looks like they have been looking at Thai visa and taking this information on board

I agree. One Friday to Sunday holiday a month would help the tourism industry massively.

Yes Pattaya area is very reliant on the tourist dollar, will the PM

or any government people actually care.   Bangkok has lots of hotels as well

that are hurting, and I bet lots of them have only minimal staff to keep the

building clean and not becoming bug infested.  Thailand like most places in the

world will have no International tourists for quite a while yet.    I just say

good luck to all of those who have their shares in the hotel and other

tourist businesses. The future next several months to 2 years will be bleak.

How about 100 baht/night per hotel room for every day the govt blocks would-be paying customers over covid-fears?  That would be fair.

Similar for restaurants - a govt-subsidy equal to 50% of revenue the same day last year, until the borders are open.  Subtract food costs, and that would cover rent + staff.

Only stipulation - to qualify, the businesses have to pay the same number of Thai-Citizen staff, at the same pay-rate, as during the same month last year.

Then, see how long they stay committed to pretending there is "no covid in Thailand, because the borders are closed."

If they opened up the boarders tomorrow, do you think a lot would change here over the next 3 to 6 months?

Do you planes would suddenly take to the sky, at pre Covid prices?

Do you think the home countries of the tourists would remove their own quarantine restrictions so Thailand can start their tourism industry?

Do you think people even have the money for a holiday to Thailand?

Do you think all the closed hospitality businesses across Pattaya / Thailand just open up and pick up where they left off?

There will be a rebuilding phase that will take years, not months, and that's AFTER the world has been vaccinated.
