EU/Denmark embassy letter - anyone managed to get despite them officially refusing?

Recommended Posts

I see UK reluctantly issued a few letters but also refused many & anyway they are no longer part of EU so how about others?
Denmark clearly states they no longer issue as flying back is possible! I as many do not have residence/address/home in the EU so the letter is simply for the citizen to extend the stay as Thailand requires this for a simple 'covid' extension as covid amnesty is likely to run out soon...
E.g. we are waiting for borders to open so we can resume our border bounce ????
Or waiting for xx country to open border so we can continue our round the world travels etc.
All sorts of reasons why they should issue just like the USA does - play the covid game ????
Thanks & best of luck to all

Yes so we are talking of special cases just like UK embassy issuing but unlike USA which smartly issue the generic blanket letter as Thai immigration wants ????

So thus I assume nobody with EU passport have any special case of needing to extend Thailand stays at this stage. Interesting ????

It's a sad state of affairs I guess it may be time to shop around for some new/secondary/primary nationality somewhere.
Indeed Finnair appear very cheap although not free as best option flight back home.
I sent a mail to Danish embassy few days ago & auto reply was they might respond within 7-14 days...Back in April they responded within 1 day saying letter not needed as amnesty had just been enacted!

Anyway 30 days ext. which may be only granted as 'under consideration & only once is not a sustainable way to remain & amnesty ext. seem very unlikely so I've decided to do the alternative ????

Indeed Denmark refused which to be honest is disappointing merely repeating that traveling there is totally possible!
So that leaves the medical certificate perhaps one could assume covid symptoms etc...
Also for those with still valid multi visas a chance border encounter is futile after Myanmar's epidemic which I believe has shut any possibility at Mae Sot...

Other than that overstay or last minute agent schemes & of course pray for amnesty / immigration easing!!

Just came from immigration, chief was talking with my gf long time laughing, he sayd just need to wait and told not to worry.

Told that not going to jailed if i wait till last day but i doupt its on hes hands, also he sayd that just print letter from embassy website (my gf not remember that our embassies not giving letters)

So still no: non imm b visas granted in Thailand.

Told them that need to wait documents for marriage also.

Well lets see, i dont really afraid to be deported, im afraid of 1-5 year ban.

A 1 year ban is if you are in the country illegally without visa AFTER 90 days

I got scammed have proof of the police report and the education center that was supposed to get me te visa (lawyer took off with the money)

they still refuse to give me an extension letter while I’m busy with a new visa application

Belgium embassy btw

There's a lot of small talk going on with many personal or org. opinions, but the unofficial announcements pouring out from before previous amnestys/grace periods seem totally absent now is what worries me & thus playing plan C already!
All the best never give up for our hopes????
I think in event of actually having to fly out of own will or deported would not matter much but likely the mindset & idea of coming back will be tainted/changed forever once seen from afar...

I don't know why this previous suggestion was taken down on another thread, but I'll try again. You need media attention. Start ccing major media in your country on your correspondence with the embassy. I don't know if it was my cc to the New York Times that helped in the case of the US, but I'm sure it didn't hurt. This is news! Traveling can be dangerous in these times even if you're going from one pretty safe country to another. It's the in between stuff that could get you. And believe me the people in your country don't want to see you coming in.

@ehgnyc; the mod posted this rule as the reason;

5) You will not use Thaivisa as a platform to gather support to effect changes on religious, political, or governmental issues.

Thank you. It wasn't Thailand's political issues I was trying to effect change on. It was other countries'. If that's not okay, I won't do it again.

We've seen a few happy stories of letters to media / governments helping to change policies but appear as uphill battles in this last hour. Good for the Americans though ????

I did wrote few emails to finnish news medias. But at these times i think all they want is about refugees and their free flight to europe with free housing and money, they dont care about us europeans in most of the countries...

Can you imagine that they did bring few hundred refugees to Finland from Greece with private planes, gives food etc. But us citizens of socialist europe gulag wont get petty document. Im not against helping people though but this is too much, i served my country and this is what they give back (nothing).

i'm afraid I can believe it. denmark dont take any refugees & want to pay as little as possible to the poor greeks (to help the refugees themselves which obviously they are not able too much like Italy).

So I think we have to be realistic & expect nothing more but hope for the best just like we do as guest in foreign countries like Thailand. play the game so to speak

Well, at least you EUers can go to Greece or Spain easily and stay.  We Americans have Turkey (90-days), Latin America (far), etc.

But if you have family here, as many of us do, I understand - this is maddening, even given 30-days at a time w/letter - hard to make plans.

Well, not without 50K+ through a "law firm" in Bangkok - not sure elsewhere.

The Danish Embassy in Bangkok has several times during the pandemic posted about flight for Europe with possible connections to Denmark, including the recently direct repatriation flights by THAI from Bangkok to Copenhagen; i.e. if you are not too sick to travel, you can get "home".

Assuming you are Danish citizen, have you been in contact with the Danish embassy concerning that you have no registered residence in Denmark, and asked if you based on that will be eligible for an amnesty letter?

Yes this is exactly what I've done & what this post is about ????
I didn't push it any further or tried to backup with any further evidence after their initial blanket rejection as I meanwhile decided to pursue other options (I already assumed they really wouldn't be helpful but wanted to get the confirmation for peace of mind).
So as we can see various EU nationalities don't really have this option to make extensions at Thai immigration & thus yet again shows they are not willing to play the game of their host country ????
Denmark, Finland, UK has confirmed this acc. posters here & other websites such as Sweden, Norway, Germany etc are stating similar with the 'EU blanket' umbrella. None EU nationals have confirmed getting letters but a few UK...
Sad or just shows how compliant we all are & seeking other options already! ????
