Having lived in Cambodia for 2 1/2 years, the advantages for many expats are cheaper booze, cigs, drugs and women. But the biggest one is much easier immigration. In fact, no problem at all. The place is packed with expats who have been blacklisted in Thailand. For me, Cambodia destroyed most of their beaches, so now that I'm ready to retire, it's Thailand hands down. 6 1

Popular Post Poet
So, the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism says that Cambodia has been selected as the world’s most hospitable country for welcoming foreign tourists and other foreigners in 2020. It turns out that a small company in Pittsburgh that specializes in international home moving has a blog on which they publish a post roughly once per post. Small business owners are often advised to do this by SEO "experts" and that is why you often see rushed articles towards the end of the month. On the 28th of January, quite some time before Covid shut the world down, they happened to publish an post entitled "Top 10 Friendliest Countries in the World to Move To". It is very obviously a nonsense post, plagiarizing existing articles, the sort of thing you might pay a freelance writer $40 for and paste into your WordPress without even reading it. That someone in the Cambodian government decided to spin this, nine months and an entire pandemic later, as Cambodia being "selected as world’s best hospitality country in 2020" is astonishing. Sheer chutzpah! Edited September 17, 2020 by Poet 3
ehgnyc
Lol. Yeah, chutzpah is a nice euphemism for what goes on in Cambodia.

Popular Post Paul Henry
Been to Cambodia many times, I have said in previous comments Cambodia and Vietnam are beating Thailand hands down on the tourism front. Thailand needs to reaccess their approach to tourism from the small business person through to the Government if they want to keep tourism as an important industry for the country. 3

Hopefully in 2025-2030 Thailand will be listed again as ranking high in being a great host and location for foreigners!! 1

Beyond that, yep, cheap beer, cigs, easily obtained visas and work as second rate english teachers and cheap western food for the backpacker crowds. PLUS of course Kampot where all the yuppies are now seemingly traveling to now that the Chinese have overtaken Shianoukvile. Islands have already been ruined as well. Burma Bill
Great news - one of the reasons I left Thailand 8 months ago after 20 years of retirement in LOS. Sadly, in my opinion, Thailand is going down the drain FAST!!!
