Cash-strapped THAI finds winning formula with deep-fried dough sticks

Thai Airways International (THAI) appears to have finally found a winning formula – Youtiao or deep-fried dough sticks served up with taro custard.

 

There were long queues of people waiting to sample the treat when airline staff started frying up the treat outside THAI headquarters near Silom Road from 6.30am on Wednesday (September 16).

 

Every Bt50 serving of three sticks of fried dough with a cup of purple taro custard had been bought up by 9.30am.

 

This combination is available at the main Puff and Pie outlet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at the Or Tor Kor Market outlet on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and every day at Puff and Pie outlets in Thai Airways’ Rak Khun Thao Fa building and at Don Mueang Airport.

 

The cash-strapped airline has had to shift its focus to catering now that flights have come to a halt due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Dough balls and root veg' splodge should pull 'em out of the mire ..

In other news TAT encourages all Covid-19 affected businesses to start selling deep fried dough as a way to make up for lost tourist revenue. But they cautioned to make sure you check the passports of all customers and secure a deposit because you never know what those crafty farangs are up to.

Continued funding by the state was one of the three that alternatives Prayut stated were options for THAI.  Restructuring, which did not require more state funds, was the route that was chosen so that the state did not have to continue support.

Some airlines have a donut promotion to pull themselves out of a rut during the CV19 situation, while some airlines come up with strategic business plans and promotions.  But hey, same-same right?   ????

And then they will serve these old new delicious deep fried dough sticks on all early flights but it will be self service to allow the hosties to take a break after the hard work of getting to the airport on time and onto the aircraft. But not free, have to pay and it's 2 level pricing, but can they trust tricky farang to put the right money in the cup. 

 

Further, because all future flights will be full (so popular) there will be marshalls on all flights to supervise deep fried dough buyers by rows. The marshalls second task will be to wake up the hosties and get them moving to serve lunch which is difficult work, it's not easy to say 'chicken or fish?'

So with the airline effectively not operating because of Covid where's all the continued support for financing coming from?

Directors, managers, staff etc etc receiving payment?

The management should be focused 100 / 200% on plans/strategies and implementation of those strategies to repay their massive debts.

 

Not focused on deep fried dough sales and restaurants to sample airline food. These items can't produce much more profit than a roadside food sellers survival.

 

Focus, focus, focus please on the big and difficult item - repay all the massive debt, plus cleverly rebuild airline operational efficiency to gain more margin from airline operations.

You check again, many photos on-line, especially the eat airline food at pop up restaurants on Thai premises.

I don't know that, I don't run the company but, yes, I would imagine that staff are being paid.  There sure would have been reports about it if they weren't.
