Allowing foreigners entry is risky for Thailand and it might be better to follow the sufficiency economy philosophy to lower dependence on foreigners until the virus situation can be contained globally,” said Dr Thira.

A doctor, not an economist.  Dependency on foreigners would only increase on the military's watch. Making the Thai people weak and dependent makes them easier to rule.  It will take a very long time and big shifts that the Thai elite are not willing to see for the country. Shifts in education and allowances for investment.   Not going to happen anytime soon, and if it does happen, it will take one to two decades.  It is easier to deal with this flu like illness.

With a population in excess of 65 million, why does Thailand even need to bring laborers from neighbouring countries? Could it be that the neighbours provide better quality, more reliable/energetic labor! ????

No, cheaper labour.

Lets get that xenophobia whipped right up!!

Covid 19 is an absolute gift for general Pinocchio and his minions, get's to put the boot into the dirty fallang and allows him to spread fear among the serf's whilst dragging the country back to the locked feudal country they long for, they love it!!!

It is a fantastic gift for governments all over the world, the Wuhan virus makes control of the people nearly complete, makes "democracy" surplus to requirements, makes the people afraid and angry, and so on, and soforth.

By the way, if you think this is the agenda of the current government, try to compare the current and former "opposite" governments.

I do remember quite a few words

and deeds of Mr T and sister.

Same-same comes to mind.

The haves want the not-haves docile and poor.

But that is universal all over the world.

"Richer "havenots" can't be controlled any more and take away lots from the "haves".

Maybe some of you remember an old Beano charcter called Jonah.

Whenever he turned up anywhere there would be shouts of "Aaaarghh, it's 'im"

That's how I feel whenever this man's picture appears on  Thaivisa CoOVID topic!

Just for you - I used to love this fella (Jonah, not the other funny one).

Sharp rise in infections because of a sharp rise in testing for infections ?

lets hear about how many of those infections require hospitalisation or result in deaths  and how many have mild or no symptoms.

Take it you would have preferred Thailand followed the UK model, similar population, now looking at a new national lockdown to try and minimise the total projected covid related deaths of 69.5K by Jan 1st.

https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-kingdom?view=total-deaths&tab=trend

Remind me, how many covid related deaths in Thailand?

“Covid-19 could enter Thailand when someone comes into the country. Both countries have a long border and many natural channels. We need to control  migration to prevent the outbreak,” said Dr Yong.

He's about the only man who talks any sense.. immigrants from bordering countries are going to pose a huge threat if allowed to come for work without quarantine, those illegally entering should be investigated as to who is bringing them in or what companies are offering work without documentation.;

Maybe  the sports & tourism minister could have a chat with him as to what risks are from international tourism and his master plan.

Criminal pseudo science politicized. The COVIT-19 "virus" has never been isolated. It's very existence is questionable.

The worldwide used PCR-Tests can not determine the presence of this "virus" nor are they able to determine if there is an infection.

This is a global hoax, a scamdemic. Entire economies are being crashed to be bought back later for cents on the dollar.

Wake up people !!!

Sorry, health costs money. Even the NHS needs to be funded.

Why should Thailand pay for the failures of underfunded Western health care systems?
