The comment re business people etc was more aimed at WeChat.  Only got to look at Hilary to see how blind many are to the threat of state based cyber theft, and WeChat remains in wide use.  Easy to imagine Biden accidentally sending any amount of information, and with his China First policies, there's no way he would have taken this step.

Most people who use WeChat are either Chinese, or communicating with Chinese friends/relatives, or doing business with China. In any case they are usually quite aware about how it works in China and surely know they need to be cautious. Nobody uses it for communicating between non-Chinese.

Additionally, what is the "China first" policy of Biden?

There's many alternatives, as I suspect you're suggesting.  WeChat/TenCent is still in wide use.  You only have to look at Hilary to see how blind many are to the threat of cyber theft by state agencies.  It would be no surprise if the Democrats were still using this platform to send potentially sensitive information.

So you're worried about security. Nice. Somehow no issues with Trump refusing to use a secure phone. Or his daughter's email security issues.

If you chose to get your worldly knowledge from 20 second CNN sound bites, that's a matter for yourself.  You can look up Trumps magnificent achievements ( despite endless false accusations), but you are not interested in fact.

I do not rely on information the way you described. The choice you depict is not mine, but fabrication you misrepresent as truth. I am interested in facts, whereas you're focused on unfounded claims - so once again, what "magnificent achievements"? And is the Covid-19 response among them?

How wide is use of WeChat in the USA business community for purposes which are not China related business? What is the purpose of trying to ban TikTok, then?

You want to bring up but but but Hillary as an argument? Go right ahead. Now how's about Trump refusing to use a secure phone? Guess by your logic that's less of an issue because he's the POTUS and she's a has been.

What you imagine is your own business, it's not fact. Does Biden use WeChat? Does he actually have any such "China First" policy, or did you make that up as well?

Deflections, nonsense, hyperbole, scaremongering and lies. That's all you guys got.

Sweeping statement much?  You have no idea how widespread WeChat usage is.  Even sports teams use it as their group chat of preference.

So now you're criticising his transparency?  Rest assured, he is much smarter than you and uses a secure phone when it's required.

Addressing your additional post, if you wish to educate yourself on the incredible achievements of President Trump, you will not be able to do so without expanding your horizons beyond your biased media preferences.  You can learn about these incredible achievements by watching any of his campaign speeches, or even the most recent Sate of the Union address.

You will also learn that he is articulate, funny, an excellent orator, and a unifying force.  Of course, it won't fit in with your confirmation bias, so you won't like it one bit.

You posit that usage of WeChat is widespread, and yet fail to provide any concrete support by way of figures and such. Guess "sweeping statements" are alright, if they align with your views. Sports teams using WeChat - how many? How is this an issue?

Sure, his campaign speeches will be proof of his incredible achievements.

No, I'm criticizing your hypocrisy. No expectations from Trump when it comes to transparency. Should I 'rest assured' on the 'compelling' force of your words? I don't think so. As for 'uses a secure phone when its' required' - how would you know?

You keep making comments about my supposed reliance on this or that media source. You've no idea as to that, and you cannot support your over the top comments with anything. Trump saying he's the best ever doesn't really count.

Trump is many thing, articulate is not one of them, same goes for being a unifying force - obviously. With such comments, not often taken up even by ardent Trump supporters, I think it safe to assume you're trolling.

Xi Jin Pingpong has made clear the Boyz in Beijing want to dominate the world in (their stolen) technology by 2025 yet no Potus is going to sign up for that. U.S. Government is in fact unsigning from the many giveaway deals it's made over the past 30 years in particular. So anything that hurts or hinders the Tencent owner of WeChat, QQ and much else is good -- excellent indeed.

US, Japan and EU are developing our own 5G technology rather than rely on the Chinese Communist Party owned and operated Government of the People's Republic to run with it. We got WeChat out of the QQ platform copied by the owner of Tencent who the Party sent to the University of Chicago graduate school of business to learn how to do all of this stuff and more.

CCP Dictator-Tyrants in Beijing have been sucking off the teat of the United States for more than 40 years so its past time to bust up the party with its fun and games and to turn out the lights over there. Pull the plug on 'em tug by tug which is what this does.

Yeah, you're right.  No one outside China uses WeChat.  Now, can I get you a nice cup of cocoa before nap time?

I haven't claimed no one outside of China uses WeChat. I've even pointed out that it's useful for people who need to contact people in China or do business with China. The personal nonsense commentary is uncalled for.

This tiktok thing is nothing more than stealth communist Chinese infiltrating users personal details.

Trump is absolutely correct in shutting it down.

You can't be serious?

If the Chinese want personal details about US citizens, all they have to do (once again) is hack the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Donald has left the front door open.

Sports leagues, I.e. NBA, use it to communicate with fans in CHINA.

You have nothing to support your ridiculous claim that WeChat usage is widespread for communication between non-Chinese in the USA.

Just look at their post history and that should tell you all you need to know.  This board has a good ignore feature.

So if you are a complete Trump fan, the guy is a perfect genius, he can walk on 3 inches of water. Donald is early important as the 2nd coming of JC.  The Democrats are all the Devil's workers and are to be feared. Do not listen to Biden  he is likely to speak too truthfully.  Wade through all the lies that Donald says  and  forget all his failings as well. He  has done  so much, the swamp is drained. The wall is getting built as we speak.  Make America Goofy Again.  I hopefully will see Donald voted out in November. Guess you can see that I am not, and never will be a Trump fan,  or  believer.

Geezer

Interesting diatribe, but if you are a millionaire American with earnings in the top 5%, why would you support the socialist Democratic party whose primary objective is redistribution of wealth?  Stop thinking of this as a popularity contest (Orange man bad, he hurt my feelings - LOL).  ????

The USA's Democratic Party is neither socialist, nor is its primary objective redistribution of wealth. These are just bogus Trump campaign talking points, and lies on top of that. As for 'popularity contest' - funny coming from someone supporting a President who focuses that much energy on whether people like him or not, say nice or nasty things about him, plus engages in Tweeter clashes with all and sundry over such matters.
