Popular Post webfact
Health authorities urge 14-day self-quarantine with precautions by rally participants By The Nation The Ministry of Public Health is concerned about the health of those who took part in the weekend's political rallies, and have requested their cooperation to check their symptoms for 14 days. Dr Sopon Iamsirithaworn, director of the Department of Disease Control, said the ministry was concerned about the health of the political demonstrators as they were short of rest, and some people did not sleep because of the humid and rainy weather. There is a chance of them getting sick with the flu or a respiratory disease. In addition, Thailand is still considered at risk for Covid-19, as some people may be infected but not show symptoms. The gathering of a large number of people can easily spread Covid-19 or the flu, both of which are similar. He urged everyone who had attended the rally to monitor and observe themselves for 14 days, check their temperature regularly, use separate mask, food and personal items to prevent the infection spreading to family members, and avoid close contact with the elderly and people with medical conditions, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, since this group suffer severe symptoms if they get infected with even the risk of death. If symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, mucus or loss of taste and smell occur, they must visit the nearest hospital for diagnosis immediately. So, in effect, if we protect the above mentioned vulnerable people, who are at risk of any virus due to age or pre-existing conditions anyway, the rest should be able to get back to "normal normal" ? I would call that common sense, rather than excellent management of CV-19 by Thailand.

However, they really have no clue how widespread it is because of no testing and sticking their heads in the sand. Had they tested regularly then they may have a true Idea and just maybe they do know, but are still afraid to tell the truth.

Popular Post steven100
yes ..... this was always the concern, of course they expect a spike in the numbers due to the participants & the organizers selfishness and lack of responsibility for the health and safety of the nation. Lets hope those attendees don't suffer should they contract COVID because of the protest and lack of sanitization and protective precautions. 2

Funny how this advice was not put-out when they decided to lift the gathering on mass transit rail systems or public transportation. I wonder if next month they will give free advice after Loy Krathong?

Oh, and Please refrain from talking as that spreads water droplets.

Your such a crony and a bunch more words I can't post here. You think the crowded BTS is safer than an open air protest where most wore masks. That logic is so typical of you. So its ok to promote air travel and Staycation deals for thai but they can't protest?

jonclark
I hope the good Dr also asks the police who were there to follow the same procedures and self quarantine for 14 days. Last thing we need is police out and about doing their duties and infecting the rest of us. I mean that is the implication the Dr. is making that people who attended the rally and the police,(all 2000 of them), did ,in their role of maintaining orderliness and security, attend the rally. 14 days sick for the rozzers to self quarantine? BTW notice how the narrative is now shifting from 14 days self isolation to prevent covid 19, to 14 days self isolation to prevent any disease. Subtle but telling, almost like being under house arrest. Sorry to cynical for a Monday morning I know. Have a good week ya all.
