Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has thanked officials and the protesters for maintaining peace during the weekend rallies, Anucha Buraphachaisri, a spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, said on Sunday.

The prime minister showed his appreciation for all officials and the people for keeping the situation under control. The staff has given great importance to ensuring the safety of the protesters, Anucha said.

In addition, the authorities and the general public avoided confrontation and provocation, preventing unnecessary tension. He said the government aims to give people the right to full freedom of expression under the Constitution.

"The prime minister wants all Thai people to join hands to overcome the obstacles that we are facing so that we can come out of the crisis together with great success," the spokesman said.

aka:  a speech writer slightly brighter than general Pinocchio has put pen to paper in order to make the great leader look brighter and more likable by getting a civil servant to read out a statement, anybody really think he has any involvement in this kindly go and give your head a wobble and have a quiet word with yourself.....

That “we” are facing? Desperate words from a man who’s clinging on for dear life.

The whole, “we are Thai. Let’s work together” nonsense won’t work anymore. When will the dinosaurs learn? The seal is now well and truly broken.

People know exactly what the elite are up to and how they run things. These things can’t be unlearnt.

If Prayut really wants that to happen, he should ride off into the sunset and not come back.

Give the country a free honest election, and a chance at being a democratic country, without intimidation from anybody.

Wow colinneil, we wrote almost the same thing there. Good morning to you from CM!

good comment by the PM Khun Prayut Chan O Cha. He is listening to their plight.

Oh, we all know what a good listener he is. At least you're finally admitting the people's plight.

The next 10 days should be really interesting.

The army will be quietly pleased with how the focus of the anger is shifting away from them towards the top. In the long run, they support what the protesters were demanding at the weekend. It will allow the military to grab even more power.
