Popular Post audaciousnomad
Protest ended this morning. This weekend's drama has ratcheted down for the moment. Popular Post khhainuui
Holding here untill they give non imm visas in country. Im going to immigration every week, they lock me or give legal way to stay, not willing to pay for corruption to get other visa that is not my purpose of stay, as they have been repeating years that you need right visa to stay. 4 4 1 1

They won't issue visa inside Thailand except for non O retirement/marriage from entry by tourist visa or visa exempt. So what's your plan prior to Sept 26?
Popular Post Oldie
Don't create panic. There are still some days left until the amnesty ends. ????
Popular Post JackThompson
I threw away an extension (60-days / Thai family) by not waiting last time. I won't make that mistake again, but have my embassy-letter ready to go, if no other option appears. Some talk I might be able to get another 60-day, since the last one was for nothing. Everyone should have a "Plan B" ready to go. Mine was Turkey, until the embassy-letter option appeared. This is still on the table if that and/or other options are not available in the future - though hoping another SE-Asian country allows us in before the Thai options end.

Do you have the company docs / requirements to extend it? Maybe discussed with you prior - small company, etc? - sad, if so. We don't have access to the MFA for corruption-free options, currently. But if you do manage to get married before the other options end (embassy-letter, if you can get one), that opens up more options going forward. Popular Post vermin on arrival
Yeah don't know if I made a good choice (looking less and less like I did), but have my embassy letter and Wed appointment at MTT. I expect no u-turn, but can still hope. Partly didn't want to do the corruption since I could use that money for living expenses and never wanted to do that here, and I also don't want to stay here for 15 months. As soon as Taiwan or Laos opens up for me I am gone, but who knows how long that may be.
Popular Post Jack Hna
I got the letter I am going to wait and if that letter fails I'll head back to UK and address other matters for a month or two and then make my way back to asia and wait it out. If those dodge pot visa wizards worked on the basis of transparency instead of the consumers desperation they could have made a fortune. I guess they must be desperate too. I view visa agents the same way I view any shop without pricing on products. No go zone, it does not need to be that way. 3

Good luck with that plan. The agents will tell you straight away your options and give you a price. It's simple and open. The pricing is very dependant on different situations. For example the ME marriage guys entered on a non o where as those that entered on tourist visa or visa exempt need to obtain non o prior to extension. Some are more easy than others for example retirement vs marriage extension etc etc. You had options prior to last week of amnesty. 4
Popular Post Caldera
When the automatic extension was prolonged in July and I read immigration's "extend or prepare to leave by September 26th" announcement, I concluded that they meant business. So I reconsidered my options and whether or not to stay in Thailand, the result being that I wanted to stay. I acted accordingly. If they decide to prolong the automatic extension again, so be it - I will be happy for all those who rely on it, but I'm also happy that I don't need to stress about it right now.

Seeing so many countries in the region, Taiwan (extend amnesty past 6 months) Indonesia (reverse position and allow in country payment extensions), Malaysia (extend amnesty 4 months), Vietnam (last minute reversal on amnesty and allows long term payment) and Laos and Cambodia and PI still have good policies for people in difficult situations, made me thing Thailand would reverse course. Unfortunately, looks like they won't.
Popular Post BritTim
When September 22 comes and goes without any new announcement, those who dislike reality can still pin their hopes on the next cabinet meeting on September 29. By then, they can rationalise, the authorities will have witnessed the absolute chaos and economic damage that has resulted from the July decision, and will be forced to announce a new amnesty. Seriously, anyone who thinks there is more than a minuscule chance of a new amnesty for those on short term permissions to stay needs to wake up. 4

Unfortunately, looks like they won't. The most ridiculous thing to me is the fact that they don't remove the exit/re-enter requirement to extend a visa. They could easily issue a temporary order allowing in-country extensions given the current conditions in the world. It's a two-faced system here. Please come visit Amazing Thailand, but if you fall in love with our country make sure you bend over so we can screw you for liking it so much here. 7

I'd be happy if they dropped the stupid "under consideration" step in addition to that. It's a waste of time and a waste of space in the passport.

Its way too late for that now. They don't want any more people apply for extensions than they already have. It would create chaos and long lines if they allowed this last minute.

Visible meaning I can look them in the eye. That's not happened they cannot be located. Even my IO office is unable to refer these people. You say what you say in a very invested way. Popular Post utalkin2me
This is how everything worth anything was created. This is how the rich outlast the poor, it is how the good guy wins at the end of the movie and how the strong defeat the weak. Hold on tight to the last string possible for as long as possible. If you do that, before you know it the world may open up for you. May. 2
notmyself
On a related note... I was having a chat with my brother last evening about the situation. He's a data man like myself and he comes back an hour or so later asking where all these flights (seats/tickets) are coming from. No idea I told him and he asked if I was worried.
