Popular Post spidermike007
The biggest joke was one of the great fools, in Thai history. He hogged the limelight, he was a racist, and he was hugely destructive, in his approach, and that is why he was let go. The administration simply could not tolerate his nonsense anymore. I am typically not sympathetic to much that Prayuth does. And I love that he is getting sued. But, in this case, it is sour grapes, from a very sour man. 5

Yes, I remember Big Joke well and what a megalomaniacal piece of work he was/is. Let's hope himself and Prayut take each other down. Popular Post Flying Saucage
Big Joke was related to the faction of Prayut and Prawit. Indeed it is well known that his big mentor was Prawit, who installed a big propaganda machinery to promote Big Joke. Some members in the forum supposed that Prawit did this to prepare poster boy Big Joke for a political position later, maybe even as successor of Prayut when he becomes too old. I tend to agree this assumption. In fact, thanks to this propaganda machinery, Big Joke became quite popular among many Thais, who recognized him mistakenly as a fighter against corruption and "criminal" foreigners. This was at the same time when the power structure in Thailand already started to change, the power of Prawit and Prayut already dwindled, and exactly this was probably the main reason why Prawit build up this poster boy Big Joke, in order to use him as a popular figure to steer against this dwindling power of him and his faction. But, in the other far more powerful faction there is someone who does not like another too popular figure in politics, and who ordered Prawit and Prayut to stop this charade. So, that is in a few words what happened to Big Joke previously Now today Thailand is in a position of public uproar and has a very unpopular goverment of dumb Prayut and senile Prawit. A coup to oust Prayut would be a loss of face for the other side, as too many people especially from the opposition predict a coup already. Therefore, they will oust Prayut in another quieter way, by forcing him to resign. Yesterday already we had already this senator who complained about Prayut. A senator who was handpicked by Prayut in 2019. Today we have Big Joke sueing Prayut. So, the rats are leaving the sinking boat obvisouly, and change the sides to the more powerful faction. Or, in other words they work on the replacement of Prayut and they are part of this game. The other faction just remembered the popularty of Big Joke and his clean image as it was perceived by many Thais. And now they try to use his previous popularity to give themselves a better image. Big Joke is a carrierist, and he is willing to play this game against his previous mentors. He will come back, but with far less propaganda backing than before. At the end he might become either a minister in a new cabinet, or he only might be a one-way tool in the current power play as he has the potential to become too popular again, which is not liked by everyone at the top. mberbae
Big Joke must have stepped on some General's toes in his investigations. Fight Corruption, but NOT at the Top Levels, BJ. Popular Post trainman34014
I've believed all along that Big Joke was removed from his position because he was against the massively expensive and unneeded system that 'some people' wanted installed by Immigration for the sole reason of said people getting personally richer than the filthy rich they already were. Doesn't take much imagination to figure out who the main beneficiaries were in that scam does it ? Also; it was well known that Big Joke was hated with a vengeance by the majority of Immigration Staff as he removed some of the corruptest types and actually made the rest work for a living. An example of this was the removal of the Chief and three other Senior Officers at Chiang Mai and the alteration of working hours meaning they would have to work shifts and open from 6am to 8pm including staggered lunch breaks etc, something that had needed doing for years as it is the most overcrowded office in the Kingdom. As Big Joke moved around the different locations changing things for the better from the 'customers' point of view he upset many Officers who had been living an easy lifestyle and some of those affected had been close to Prayuts ear and favour for sure.

Caldera
I will readily admit that I didn't like Big Joke when he was the head of immigration. Even by Thai standards, his over the top promotion of xenophobia was atrocious. That said, I started to like him since his fall from grace. He seems to be rattling the cage and that's desperately needed.

According to Big Joke there was NO due process. A common theme with the junta you love so much. Why was he given an inactive post? Why is he not being investigated? cha cha does not have any ducks in a row. He just ducks hard questions and hides from debate. He is a coward. Not a fan of Big Joke, but he comes across more authentic and intelligent than cha cha. Being more authentic and intelligent wouldn't be all that hard, personally I think he is streets ahead and the right sort of guy to stick to the current pretend politicians keeping the seats warm.
