2 Android Boxes, Different Speeds ? Why ?

So this CPU, despite both being 'Quad' is inferior and probably causing the slower speed ?

Richcor, I did a factory reset on the new box as first I did an update but some things weren't working, no additional settings screen and other glitches so I did a factory reset and I haven't updated anything since, just added a few apps I wanted.

The rockchip 3318 soc is a cheaper version of the rockchip 3328. See the review of the x88 pro box and comments on cnx software website.

Basically with these unsupported cheap tv boxes, its a bit hit or miss with their performance and their problems and usually there is little or no support for them from the supplier and especially whoever manufactures them. Even the internals of the same models are assembled in different factories and contain different parts (wifi cards, bluetooth modules, lan cards etc..) so it is difficult to find a proper configured working rom for them, android is complicated like that.

Try see on freaktab forum, you may find some support there for that tv box.

I personally would only buy mibox s or firetv stick products now.

The True package is 50 download speed originally but I seem to remember getting a message they would increase for free, I just had to reboot my router, but the original package last September was 50.

OK, it looks like you have true 50 down 20 up. If there is no fiber optic cable supply to your isp router then true cannot really increase the speed over copper line, you would be at the max.

Do you have a windows pc with ethernet connection? You could make a more reliable speed test with that to see if true are supplying you with 50 down/20 up, if it is not ask true to fix it.

What are you payng for your internet, because if there is no fiber connection to your router you could ask true to reduce your bill. I went to them a few weeks ago and they reduced my price from 590 to 290 baht per month.

My original contract is 50/20 plus 4GB download for my mobile at 599 per month. My contract is exactly one year old so I will ask true before I make the next payment due on 21st.

Most ISPs will state the current contract speeds, even if they reassign you, on every month's bill/statement.

But your True account may be like mine where, for *whatever reason*, True doesn't seem to bother sending a bill every month. One, at the beginning of the contract, then nadda. Heck of a way to run a company.

OP mentioned in post #9 and #30 speeds of 140 Mbps over WI-FI, so he must have fibre, since those speeds are not possible over copper wire

True send me a bill each and every month, for the last 6 years.

Perhaps go into one of their offices and talk to them.

Can check in the router settings if the speeds have been increased and set as default by the isp.

My monthly bill also states the speed they are providing.

I've only ever seen the coaxial CABLE system Internet Routers, or long-hop point-to-point microwave BRIDGE Router to ever provide link statistics in the setup menu. Most consumer routers negotiate their link rate after power on initializing and authenticating with the ISP provisioning server (to make sure you're paid up on your bill before letting you loose on the network) but normally don't display the contract or negotiated link rate in any of the setup menus.

Sorry, do not know about that.

What I mean is in my ISP true router when logging in one can see in the first summary page the device status and there is system, dsl, operational status, upstream and downstream speed and co vendor ID.

That upstream and downstream speed is a fixed value according to what I am subscibed for. The figure changed over the years each time I updated the package with true.

I think I see a similar type of thing in my TOT router whete I have Fiber Optic and the 400/400 package.

Every ISP has a smartphone app, or a website,  these days. If you login to the app or the website it will show what package you have

Thanks for that.

Call me old fashioned, I have an android one phone because I did not want all the bloat. I am loathe to install other apps other than one banking app on my phone.

Even many of the android one apps have been uninstalled where possible or disabled.

I also happen to have an Android one phone, for the very same reason as you, but I don't consider the 3BB app bloatware, and it has some useful functions. But everyone's choice to install or not of course

But I could as well login to my web based account on my PC, and get the same info
