Popular Post madmitch
There's a Walking Street and festival going on for the next four days on the Karon Beach Road between the Hilton and the now defunct (I think) Karon Plaza Market. Its been publicised locally but I've seen nothing in English. It started yesterday and as always there's plenty of good food and some extremely cheap booze, including at some of the hotels. I guess they are clearing pre-COVID stock at giveaway prices (one place has Chang at 30 baht, Singha at 35). Usual Thai entertainment on the big stage. A lot of local people have set up food stalls. The Tessabaan have not charged them any rent. Some of them are pretty despesrate for income so theyd welcome any support. 4

marin
Karon/Kata could really use some business. I was there in mid August and it was dead save one small hotel Kata Villa. A few shots.. The closed Hilton Arcadia and local restaurants. Kata nightlife area dead as well.

As much as Thai's moan about foreigners they cant survive without us when you drive around and see for yourself it doesn't look good the whole area looks depressed, Rawai is not so bad
marin
The whole area is depressed and to make it worse the locals are resigned to that fact. Every person involved in hospitality I spoke with said the same thing. " No tourist or normality until a vaccine can be found and used". Its that simple..
