great to hear. how about starting a new topic about that?

before you ask. no. i don't start pointless easy to wander topics. before you ask.....

sorry to hear about yr business btw. i know how it goes.

What business would that be?

I could leave Thailand within 36 to 48 hours with nothing but a bank account and a sim card, and that's by design.

I used the Ekkami Pattaya bus on Monday  as my bus to my home town was cancelled. They are leaving every hour on the hour from 0600 to 1900???? Social distance applies so 1 person 2 seats limit to 19 passengers per bus. My bus had 12 passengers.

I came from pattaya to ekkamai yesterday, there was no social distancing,  full bus.

"I go by limousine" 55, that's up there with my uni gf.

You mean, "My uni educated, hi-so gf, who works for a large multinational. I met her through business associates, not in a bar like the rest of you. I've never set foot in a bar in Thailand. Her parents are ridiculously wealthy and so impressed by me, they're giving us 10 rai of land upon which to build our mansion, in addition to my Hua Hin and Phuket luxury condos. Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?"

The three hour, 44 thb train to hua Hin beats all of it.  10,000 working girls in Patts..how many give a hoot how you got there?  I am in full compliance with the Thai authorities..that certainly doesn't validate most of their warped and irrational ideas.

I'll take this up with SRT. I'm sure I was paying 87 baht to Cha Am, 20 miles short of Hua HIn.  For those that see me as a cheap skate, my decision to travel by train was based on my desire to live longer and a natural aversion to A&E departments.

New track and station's looking good.

2 seats. Roly poly

Buying two seats is a 100 baht  insurance policy against sitting next to someone rollier pollier than me for 3 hours.   Or smells bad, or has an undeveloped sense of personal space, etc.

I recently took a bus from Samui to Hua Hin. It was a very comfortable VIP govt. bus with 24 seats, only 8 of which were occupied. The only issue was road construction. It slowed us down. And it was late at night. Took over 9 hours from Don Sak to HH and arrived at 4am. Thailand needs to improve on high speed transport.

yes ..... I think your correct on that.  They need an international hotel & casino in Pattaya and Bangkok and a few smaller one's at say Hua Hin and Phuket and maybe Chiang Mai.

They must go down this route if they want more money flowing in.

I have been to Ho Tram just out of Ho Chi Minh City, and Naga World in Phnom Penh.  I'm not a gambler, but did place some small bets, so I could observe.

Both rammed with predominately Chinese playing big money, and that's just on the floor, not the high roller rooms.

Thailand needs to see past selling p*ssy, despite it being illegal, and start to sell the other vice, gambling.

I always get a Limousine hire as it's much more comfortable and not expensive.

A bus I expect would be a hell trip, cramped and stopping every 20 minutes .... no thanks.

What are you on about?? Stopping every 20 minutes?? Never heard such garbage.

Almost literally just got here from Ekamai on the 12.20 bus which got in at 15.10. Took 40 minutes from Ekamai to Bang Na which was why so long. So no improvement on the first time I did it in October 1977 when it took 2 hours 30 minutes including a short stop in Sri Racha.

Read 'em, and weep...In 25 train trips, I paid extra for 2nd class..the windows didn't open, and it is usually not an option.

100% true about safety...oh, and Van Guy told me on a holiday it can take 9 hours to get to HH on the always worn out suspension vans, with 500k+ on the clock.

The busses from Ekkami are comfortable and are safely driven. The journey takes a couple of hours and there are hourly busses. Some brief stops in Pattaya to let people off but nothing to write home about. Ticket is 119 Baht.

This  is all correct.

The baht buses in pattaya, are running as usual,of course, they have far less custmers..

My backside was too numb to move after 3 hours 2nd class.  That was from Taling Chan.  You survived 3rd class for an hour longer?

Great scenery and entertainment though.

At least you avoided the train, would have been several days.  Looking forward to the High Speed Bullet train planned and already under construction. Hope it's safe on the tracks as it approaches its max of 37 kilometres per hour.

it was called the milk run in the old days .....

Your probably thinking about the mini vans...totaly different to the buses..the 3 stops in pattaya, before jomtien, take about 3 minutes each ,at most.

Ive used the bus, dozens of times, from Ekamai or airport..

Never had any problems ..

I feel sorry for the person who thinks bus users are cheap charlies.

I have very ample funds and assets.

Ive never been called a cheap charlie before, because i choose a bus...

There are some very pathetic comments made on this forum.

Many guys making coments about Pattaya, who have seldom,if ever, been here..

what do you think of a bus travel .... relaxing ?  i doubt.

If you can't endure a couple of hours on a bus then I feel sorry for you, but of course up to you how you spend your money. But I'd feel safer in one of those buses rather than take a chance on what might be a cowboy racer in a 'limousine' (posh name for a taxi).

Thailand doesn't want bus catchers. They want big spenders as per the recent visa announcements.

Buses are for Thais ... not farang.

Big spenders arriving in private limousine at the high quality store they trust.

Soon, a drive-thru service provided.
