However when I return on a yearly basis to the UK, I visit a fully qualified optician working with one of the larger retailers. Whilst I would agree an optometrist would as defined be a more specialist and experienced than an optician, the latter are fully qualified and the examination I have lasts for just under 1 hour and involves tests using a tonometer , a retinoscope, a Volk lens and a slit lamp as well as a personal inspection using a bright light. I see this check up as more comprehensive than a 10 minute visit to my GP who may be required to identify my symptoms from hundreds of ailments. I am not and have never been affiliated to the business, but I strongly disagree that they 'cannot eXamine (sic) for eye diseases'. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
