Amnesty to be extended to October 31

Bangkok Herald is reporting amnesty will be extended until October 31.  I wish it would have been extended earlier.   But better than nothing.  What does this mean for people with under consideration stamps?  Do we still go to immigration to get the full stamp?

We had until October 26 , now it's 31 for those who got extensions.  And maybe we don't need to go back and the other stamp.  And maybe amnesty gets an even later date.

I would suggest you change that to 35 days and remove the wow.

The State of Emergency seems like it will be extended another month, so through 31 October.

 

Not sure that means visa amnesty will be extended?

 

But maybe "Harold" knows someone?

Bangkok Harold was probably the first to report on the extension of amnesty in July.  I think we can trust this media source.  

I just wish we would have known earlier it was to be extended.  Maybe it'll be extended beyond October and maybe they just do it month to month.

If so they will end up with the same situation at the end of October what they have now. And the people will be quite sure that there will be another amnesty. People that departed already might feel like idiots because they cared about the existing regulations. 

 

And what happens with the people that payed the 1900 Baht for an extension already? Money back?

If you read the article the reason would be crowded immigration offices, nothing else. The requirements will probably be exactly the same. So, if you don't meet the requirements to extend the stay now, what will change next month?

If this is true , at least we don't need to go to immigration to take care of under consideration stamps, right?  And it's still a few more days over 26.  So that's good too.  But if they extended it this month, they'll probably keep extending.

Only to some degree, quite a few people have left by now or converted to a non-immigrant visa.

Publicity wise it's not their best move. Money back won't happen, people who paid 1900 at the beginning of April also had to suck it up.

After almost 3 decades here I have the same experience - often I don't know the weekday, the month and the year. I got used to it...

No need to extend the "amnesty".  Just tell everyone to get 30 day extensions for 1900 baht, no reasons needed, no letters etc.   All they are doing is pushing last week's rush to the end of October, coz no one is going to believe it's the last amnesty extension.  What a cluster#$%@...

Not really. In my case and many others, we still needed a "real" stamp to convert to a Non-B or other long stay visas, as this wasn't possible with the automatic Covid extension.

 

Hats off to Thai immigration for this immense show of understanding.

My visa is nearly up so i paid it the 2k baht which is nothing really. now i have a path for a yearly extension.

But, Sunday the 27th, say you got stopped by a police officer and asked for your passport. And if you were one of the 150,000 people without a valid visa, would you be arrested? I would think the streets may be 150 thousand people quieter tomorrow.

We need to go back the same as the last time in April to get it valid to stay. The guys running the show here are gross incompetents. There is a huge credibility problem now with the statements coming out from immigration officials. They will need to keep extending us, but will keep saying they won't in order to try and extort us and try to push us out. I went and got my emergency extension on Wednesday, but think we should probably just stay at home now until Prayuth and the cabinet say definitively that it will not be extended.

If true, I'm happy for all those who need the extra time.

 

Personally, I didn't see it coming and arranged for the conversion to a non-immigrant visa shortly after the "extend or prepare to leave by September 26th" announcement back in July. No hard feelings, no regrets - it has brought me peace of mind in the last few weeks that have been stressful for others.
