webfact
Minivan passengers unconscious at gas station - NGV leak blamed Picture: Daily News Police and rescue services were called to a gas station after reports that nearly everyone on a chartered minivan were either unconscious or flaked out in front of a convenience store. It was 12.15 am at the PTT in Klang Dong police jurisdiction, Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima. Driver Jakrakrit, 30, said he and co-driver Niran had been hired by eight people to take them from Bangkok to Roi-Et. The passengers were soon asleep and he noticed a strange smell when they got to Wang Noi, Ayuthaya. He reckoned the smell had come from outside the vehicle. Picture: Daily News Then he stopped for a toilet break in Saraburi but still didn't properly investigate the source of the odour. By the time they reached the PTT in Pak Chong some of his passengers were unconscious, or in severe distress from nausea and dizziness. They were all taken to Pak Chong Nana Hospital. A leak of NGV gas is believed to have been responsible for the incident. Useless in many isntances. Edited September 28, 2020 by bodga

richard_smith237
It has been written on this forum and discussed amongst friends. People (and I) and astonish that there are not a lot more issues related to NGV / LPG conversions - namely ‘explosions’... the general quality of workmanship and attention to detail I see in Thailand is extremely poor with shortcuts taken at every single possible step.
katana
Wonder if it was hypoxia from the methane gas in the NGV? Seems strange the drivers weren't affected though.

That would be triggered on most mini-van journeys. ????

Normally the tank is mounted behind the rear seat, that's why passengers are likely to be burned alive if the van gets rear ended. It's always a gamble riding in these death traps, like mounting children on the front of motorbikes.
