Former candidate for Seri Ruam Thai Party given 50 years for drug trafficking

 

 

A former candidate for Thailand’s Seri Ruam Thai political party, and a Chinese man, were today sentenced to 50 years in prison after they, along with two other Chinese nationals, were found guilty of drug trafficking.

 

They were caught attempting to smuggle 985kgs of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or Ice, to the Philippines in a cargo container.

 

The four defendants were identified as Mr. Suban Mahachanont, former party-list candidate for Seri Ruam Thai Party, and three Chinese nationals, Huang Guaxiong, 25, Joiwa sae Fong, 62 and Zhou Qingchu, 45.

That seems to be one alternative way to make money, if it does not work out to be voted in as a politician / minister and take what you want.

Mr. Suban's unforgivable mistake was that he was content with trafficking methamphetamine hydrochloride. Had it been heroin, he'd probably have a cabinet post by now.
