jwbrit
Under Chinese labor laws, employees who have worked continuously for one year are entitled to paid annual leave. The statutory vacation period, based on years of service, is as follows: More than 1 and less than 10 years service: 5 days vacation. More than 10 and less than 20 years service: 10 days vacation. Unfortunately, it looks like the Chinese don't get enough holiday time to even enjoy 14 days of quarantine.
ChouDoufu
1 hour ago, TSF said: So how long are these Chinese tourists planning in staying at Phuket? If they have to do the first 14 days in quarantine, they surely would stay on for another 2-3 weeks minimum after quarantine to make their holiday worthwhile. So that makes it quite a lengthy and expensive holiday, especially as they all need to pay for their $100,000 covid insurance policies. i believe they are coming on long-stay tourist visas. valid for 90 days, extendable twice. travel insurance with $100k covid cover is available for less'n $50/month. Elizway
These numbers are bonkers! Who's spending 832,125 bhts to vacation in less than a month? And 1,200 of them?!? And at the worst time to vacation?? "The government predicts just 6.7 million" Just?!? I know Thailand is a famous vacation hub, but jeeezus....39.8 million in 2019?!? No wonder they don't give a ph*ck about the 150,000. That's chump change. Edited September 30, 2020 by Elizway

Popular Post Expat Tom
I have lived here many years. I love Thailand but allowing Chinese back in is perhaps the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Someone, or many someones, In Bangkok are puppets of the Chinese Communists Party. They are only concerned about money in the bank and appeasing their puppet masters in China. I have toyed with the idea of trying someplace else. I am getting closer to that decision every day. I believe that I love Thailand and the real "Thai" people more than the decision makers in Bangkok. They are selling out their country and should be ashamed.

These figures have been pulled out of someones ass. Very few tourists can afford to spend $26,000 a month. The largest purely due to tour groups which are run by Chinese travel operators using chinese owned Buses and Hotels probably flying on a Chinese airline. The Chinese tourists spend very little money in Thailand and all the money they pay for the holiday stays in the hands of Chinese businesses. Sure they account for the largest percent of tourists but lets not kid ourselves that any of the money they spend goes towards the Thai economy

Truth Will Set You Free
Great keep them in one area where you know who is giving them service. This way if the virus break out there then you don’t have to worry about it coming North. Plus they are planning to spend any money. They just want to lay in the sun and have noodles all day..
