The groups with names are one thing, but a lot of these guys read the junk on the net (there used to be newsletters and mailing lists) and "self-recruit," just like with young fellows around the world who say they're part of ISIS. I remember watching live the first wave of riots in Minneapolis. Gangs of black youths targetting a Nike store and a Rayban store. Just local disaffected youths.
