While I sympathise with your predicament I have to say it was becoming clear that travelling overseas was taking a risk during the back end of February.

I had U.K. flights and a rental car booked for mid March , I cancelled both on 20th February.

 

Am not calling you an idiot but you have to admit that the signs of travel disruption were there and you made the decision to travel knowing it was risky .

Mr. P, Thailand has bigger fish to fry and as sad as you are, this is what can happen living in a foreign country.

 

No sense stressing yourself out, Thailand will sort it out when they are good and ready.

 

Until then you should find happy things to do and wait it out life everyone else.

 

No letter or plea is going to expedite anything for you.

Personally I think that rubbish. I was at Saigon airport March 16 on return to BKK.

With few guys that live/work in Singapore.

All the afternoon flights were cancelled. Could not believe it. 

I thought I would be still returning to Vietnam couple weeks later. 

On the 19th NZ Shut all borders. My thinking .."that's bit fast". Next day 20 match Au did the same. Think Thai was one of the last March 26.

Very easy in hindsight. Even then I'm thinking that this will last month or 2.

I am in a similar situation to the OP other than I am stuck in Thailand. If I leave, I won't be able to return to my family. I can't marry because of my marital status in the UK which is unresolvable.

 

Was diagnosed with a serious medical condition in February which requires me to return to the UK for treatment. I look at media articles every day and hope I'm still alive when the situation changes.

There are many reasons why people may find themselves stranded on either side. 
 

My sympathy goes out to you, the gentleman who is stuck in the UK because he came back for a family bereavement and everyone one else who through no fault of their own is distanced from their loved ones.

First you are not stuck in Thailand.

 

Second, how can you marital status in the UK be unresolvable?

What medical conditions do they not have any treatments for in Thailand?

 

After that you have to ask yourself what is the wiser choice?

• Going home with the need to stay away from your family for a while. Get the treatment and be able to come back and live with them at a later stage?
• Not going home, risk to die, just for staying with them until you die?

To me, there is only one of those options that seems to be the responsible one.

Your condition is obviously not life threatening otherwise you would be back home getting it sorted.

 

The BS part of my post was that you cannot be treated in Thailand, more likely you do not have the insurance to cover it and don't have the cash to pay out of pocket.

I left Thailand the 10th of March. The first sign of the virus was that at Swampy my temperature was checked.
