geovalin Posted October 9, 2020 Share Posted October 9, 2020 King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk departed Cambodia yesterday for a routine medical check-up in China. The King and Queen Mother were seen off at the Phnom Penh International Airport yesterday morning by Prime Minister Hun Sen, Senate president Say Chhum, National Assembly president Heng Samrin and other senior government and legislative body officials as well as members of the royal families and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, Wang Wentian. The King wrote a letter on Monday, saying in his absence Chhum will be acting Head of State. He learnt very fast from his father, who brought Cambodia into independence in 1941 without firing a single shot - true diplomats, both of them!
