Probably it didn't work because it wasn't complicated enough. So now all forms will be made more complicated to make them easier not to complete properly. Then stupid  foreigners can be blamed for not filling out the forms correctly.

I may have spotted these elusive 120 Chinese tourists yesterday during my beach stroll...but apparently they've switched to Pattaya.

Probably...cheaper to bus their "Potemkin" tourists to Pattaya from TAT's Bangkok office than fly them to Phuket.

Yes to all of the above plus if your a tourist and looking to stay, say 90 days. There are no guarantees that you can leave Thailand perhaps because your own countries boarders have been closed or flights out have been cancelled. Even if you do get back to your own country you may have to pay for another 15 days hotel quarantine. The scales are never going to balance in favor of tourism to Thailand until a vaccine becomes available.

Wouldn't it be amusing if only five or ten people came? How many tourists will be willing to jump over these hoops? 

 

And now, the few remaining tourists here are being asked to leave? They should be given free visas, and 10,000 baht vouchers to stay! Commendation letters too. And for incoming tourists, free quarantine. All expenses, including meals, picked up by the army, using their multi trillion baht slush fund.

Let us make your stay as uncomfortable as possible. And by the way, you cannot consume alcohol either, during your quarantine. Who comes up with this stuff, and why does the nation tolerate the nonsense, the utter incompetence, the malfeasance? How much longer will they tolerate the extremely regressive army? My prediction, is that when Covid is dead and gone, it will be a very slow recovery. It will take many years.

 

And even ten years from now, I doubt if Thailand will see 20 million tourists a year. They will be lucky if they have 5 million tourists per year, five years from now. The longer they wait, the harder they fall.

Your plan is even more nonsensical than that of TAT.

You want to give free visas, and pay large sums, to the world's wretched and destitute to live in Thailand as an answer to the dearth of a viable tourist industry. The idea is to bring money in, not give it to beggars.

They have only done what most every other country in Asia has done...try getting in as a tourist anywhere in the region. I agree that at some point, however, they will have to gradually open up to travelers when it is safe to do so.
