Cake Monster
I never expected this revelation to come to the light of Day. But something was terribly wrong in the " Chinese Tourists " being able to gain all the relevant documents and Medical Certs Etc in short order, and to be able to Charter a Flight in a matter of just a couple of days from the announcement of the introduction of STV. My thoughts were that all the " Official Stuff " had been waved for these privileged few. Not even a class full of School Kids would attempt something like this and expect to pull it off Amateurs. Mung
Thailand, if you want the tourist numbers, then open your borders completely and do away with the ludicrous hoops that you've put in place. Surely you have a medical care system that can deal with infections? Maybe that is why you are not opening.. 1

jimmjam
22k coe certificates, non of which are tourists. Just people who need to come back to thailand. This "scheme" they have implemented for the stv and all the hoops one has to jump through to get into thailand is something a tourist will not want to do. They might get a few, but this plan is going to crash and burn like most of their other idiotic ideas.

Popular Post VBF
Has anyone considered that this (non) event might actually have done us all a favour? They will probably never admit it publicly (face!) but privately some of the "powers that be" may possibly be realising that their inane "STV" and apparent preference for the Chinese, are doing nothing but harm. Therefore the same "powers that be" may possibly be reconsidering an alternative strategy, which, let's face it, can hardly be worse than the current one! Then again........ The TAT has to understand that a door, border in this case, is either opened or closed, but it can't be both at the same time... nobody knows, as there has been very little information released. i read a week or so ago that the first chinese group was a collection of business people sponsored by CP group, that had already received permission (financed or assisted by CP?) to travel even before the STV was publicly announced. the slots for the first trip were filled with folks with connections, i assume coming to buy property and stay a while, so the (alleged) quarantine would not be a problem. the costs of the tests and paperwork would be minimal compared to what they would be spending on condos. no headache with paperwork as they had CP sponsorship, and staff on hand to handle the details. even so, getting an STV shouldn't be that much trouble for the chinesers. the paperwork drill would be handled by whichever agency is handling the package tour. we do that with visas in thailand, right? and the expenses aren't that high. fit to fly cert, much like a thai health check for your drivers license, is cheap at government hospitals, as are the covid19 tests. covid19 coverage thru travel insurance is not expensive either. regardless, all those costs could be folded into the cost of the package tour. makes sense if these "tours" are disguised condo purchasing safaris. consider the cost of a luxury ocean-view condo in pattaya is likely one quarter the cost of a tiny cement box in beijing. Popular Post Pedrogaz
Well I'm shocked!!! Absolutely shocked that STV has not been a huge success. I told all my friends about it (well actually I don't have any friends, but I told my grandma who is 103 and has no money in the bank). But I did believe in the cabinet and President Emperor General Chan o Cha, to put a first class scheme in place. To be honest, I am disappointed in the General, I would have thought he would have been on a private jet flying around the rich countries demanding they send their citizens to Thailand for a short 270 day rest. 1

Mung, they claim to be prepared to take in up to 2,000 patients if necessary when a second wave comes. They have indicated they are prepared, but then some of there top doctors also indicate that they should keep the borders closed to foreigners. So even there own people are conflicted and can not seem to put on a unifying front. It does make one wonder who they are consulting in there plans or with there plans. I just read an article where they and China are to discuss the Covid 19 situation and the plans to move forward. Why is there not a universal think tank of top scientists and doctors who have been dealing with Covid working as a group to identify and assist each country. Whoops that was the WHO, and they are worse then the Thai Government at changing direction and flip flopping. Unfortunately this is a global crisis spurred on by fears of the unknown and an overreaction of epic proportions. With that said, i do understand the concerns on the health of the elderly as the world does have an ageing population because of advances in medicine and treatment. Why no one was prepared for such a hit to come is not a mystery, as it all comes down to money, and money now spent tenfold to combat the lunacy.

Popular Post Expat Tom
I find it totally amusing to read all of the stuff about Chinese coming to Thailand. Apparently, the leaders in Bangkok are unable to read the actual news from China or the Thai Embassy in China fails to supply the Thai government any actual feedback about political and economic circumstances within China. If so, then the leaders in Bangkok would know that: 1) China is having a "hard currency" crunch and is discouraging their citizens from going abroad 2) Notwithstanding CCP propaganda, the true unemployment rate in China is 20%+. There isn't as much money to travel as before. 3) Over 1,000,000 business from large factories to small shops have closed in China since the trade war with the USA and the CCP Wuhan Virus 4) There have been new outbreaks of the CCP Wuhan virus in China and there are reported cases of bubonic plague in China as well prompting a Level 4 alert within China. One doesn't have to be a member of the CIA to learn this. It is all open source. Try Google!!!! The list is much longer but if the Thai leaders and the Thai embassy in China can't figure it out, they will not listen to a simple farang. Thailand needs to do a cost benefit analysis of the Chinese mass tourism model. If so the findings would reveal that more money is spent in "China" by tourist coming to Thailand than in Thailand itself. They arrive on Chinese airplanes, stay in hotels whose beneficial owners are Chinese or Thai / Chinese. They buy cheap package tours and motor around in huge busses that do a disportionate amount of damage to Thai roads and pollute the air. The bioload and infrastructure load of these hoards of Chinese wreak havoc on Thailand far beyond the money that they actually contribute to Thailand. Do I need to add that that starting back in 1958, the contributions of China to the world (and Thailand) include the Asian Flu, the Hong Kong flu (which actually came from mainland China), Sars, the Avian flu, Swine flu and now the CCP Wuhan Coronavirus....misnamed COVID 19. Let's also do a little critical thinking as well. If it is "COVID 19" then that presumes that there was a COVID 18, COVID 17,,,,,16,15,14,13,12....etc....All from your friends and big brothers in the Middle Kingdom...AKA China. Welcome to Thailand, your vassal state! We are are all smiles here and will greet you warmly. 8 1
