Popular Post webfact
TAT: We'll be top five tourism revenue earners in the WORLD in 2021 - tourists to spend 1.5 TRILLION Picture: Thai Rath The chief of the Tourism Authority of Thailand has revealed his organization's master plan and predictions for tourism in 2021. The figures are extraordinary and the projected aspirations scarcely believable even for the gung-ho TAT, notes Thaivisa. Yutthasak Suphasorn believes Thailand can take advantage of the potential of a largely Covid free country in a world still gripped by the pandemic. His prediction is that revenue from tourism in 2021 could be as high as 1.5 TRILLION baht. He thinks that Thailand will rank in the top five countries in the WORLD next year. As reported by Thai Rath, the ever hopeful Yutthasak said: * Total tourism revenue will be between 700 billion baht and 1.5 trillion * Domestic tourists will spend between 400 billion and 500 billion * Foreign tourists will spend anywhere between 300 billion and one trillion This was based on a set of three worst case, middle case and best case scenarios. The worst: Mass foreign visitor tourism won't start again until October 2021. The best: Mass foreign visitor tourism will be up and running by April. Yutthasak thinks that before April Thai domestic tourism will take up the slack as Thais will not be able to travel abroad and will thus spend money on tours and trips in the kingdom instead. The incredibly optimistic assessments given by the TAT chief are not borne out elsewhere in the Thai media today, notes Thaivisa. Most assessments see only limited foreign tourism any time soon perhaps from Chinese tour groups. And the tourism council of Thailand chief was reported today as saying that Thai domestic tourism has, so far at least, proved to be well short of expectations. TAT assessments have been widely ridiculed in the past especially online, notes Thaivisa, and this latest prediction is likely to provoke more laughter than serious consideration. Popular Post CraigInBangkok
Used to work making tv commercials and TAT reminds me of the knobheads from an advertising agency. They used to come to the office mob handed(10 to 20 people) and everyone of them had to make a comment, no matter how ridiculous to make themselves seem relevant and worthy of their position. Lets face it, less than one person could run TAT at the moment, so my guess is they are spouting all this nonsense to try and stay in a job.

Popular Post Virt
Might happen if they open up without all kind of restrictions. Otherwise, not a chance. Personally I could accept a mandatory vaccine or show some negative test before arrival. Quarantine, apps and mandatory masks all over is a no go on my vacation. I wouldn't mind masks in public transport or malls even if there is no peer reviewed studies that actually show masks are effective against covid 19. It will be a small sacrifice to wear a mask at certain places, but no way I'm accepting it all over. Then I wouldn't feel like I'm on a vacation. Time will tell what Thailand decides. I hope I can return in July because I miss Thailand, the food, beaches, weather, walking streets, people we gotten to know over the last 10 years and so on. Covid 19 sucks big time. 2 1

Popular Post spidermike007
Utter drivel from Yutthasak, one of the least talented, and least intelligent men in tourism, the world over. The longer they wait, the harder it will be to restore the industry. People have short memories. Thailand was already being forgotten by millions, before Covid, due to a dozen reasons. Now? Too many alternatives. This administration continues to see Thailand as the COTU (center of the universe). Say it ain't so! No humility seem to be getting learned as of now. The army needs to figure out a way to muster up some courage, and re-open the nation to tourism. There are many ways it can be done safely, and there will be some risk, but nothing like the risk of not opening, and remaining sealed off from the world, like early 19th century feudal Japan. Not even close. What can one say? Desperation is setting in. Heads are going to roll. Just returned from Samui. Utter devastation. 90% of the businesses on the beach road were closed, and hundreds of hotels are closed and for sale, at half price. Trillions of baht are going to be lost here. Annually. Tourism will NEVER recover. Not in our lifetimes. Too much timidity. Too much cowardice. Too little juice and creativity. Such small minds. This is emanating out into so many sectors of the economy. We are talking about over 3 trillion baht a year in income. Gone, baby gone. Completely. And few in a position of authority are facing the music. Courageous of BAM chairman Bunyong Visatemongkolchai to state the truth. The pain will be felt for many years to come. I anticipate condo prices to drop by half. A friend of mine recently moved to Pattaya. He looked at condos in Jomtien. He walked into one of the nicest towers, looked at a 36th floor unit with panoramic views, and when he was quoted 26,000 a month, he offered 10,000. They settled on 13,000. He said the agent more or less admitted the building was nearly empty, and they could not rent or sell anything, at this time. This toxic administration refuses to learn, and progress, even now after the tragic collapse of one of their most profitable industries. It is hard to educate the brain of a dinosaur. Note to the army: This is NOT the Zombie Apocalypse. Stop pretending it is. Stop installing fear in the people. Start coming up with options. Start coming up with solutions. Something! Just do not do nothing. The worst possible thing you can be doing right now is nothing. You will be remembered for destroying the economy, devastating millions of people, and doing nothing! Eventually heads will roll. Hopefully yours! Edited October 14, 2020 by spidermike007
