Exactly the kind of characters Thailand would be better off without... Pattaya has built itself to attract "choice" tourists, what do you expect. It is a seedy hole of a place and not a place people want to invest their money in visiting for their well earned holiday. It is home to skint retirees, sex tourists and not much else. It has had its day, even after COVID is said and done it is going to take decades of reinvention to bring it up to a tourist destination for people with money to spend. Might sound sad but it is simply the truth, facing reality will be the start to reinventing the city. 3

People are staying local for holidays and weekend breaks, if they are going to travel long haul there are countless choices before Pattaya (unless of course you are a sex tourist who wants to spend their holiday with prostitutes). Caldera 3,518
A regular tourist, from any country, cannot afford to sacrifice two weeks of their annual leave on quarantine. Simple as that. There are obviously snowbirds, gap year students, retirees and similar groups who COULD quarantine. A fraction of them also WOULD (and has the money), so the number of people Thailand can "woo" with such an offer is quite limited.

Thats only your opinion, i am sure there are plenty of Thai's that would love to see any type of tourists sitting on bar stools regardless of what fumes they were enjoying! Susco 5,864
I just read a post on FB from a bar owner in Pattaya who said there are currently quite some Chinese tourists in Pattaya already. Anyone in Pattaya can confirm?

shdmn 1,822
They have accurate 20 minute tests now. There may even be accurate 5 minute tests. Test everyone and then let them go on their way. Why are they still clinging to this completely unacceptable quarantine idea? Edited October 17, 2020 by shdmn
sncoem 114
No thank you ! As Thai are quite slow, I am not sure that they really understood how lucky they are to have some of us still here ! Once they will really know and beg for more, maybe tourists could come back !

Whats with these never ending Debbie Downer comments one after the other? You can tell these people commenting have never started a business. Here's a tip, open it up and let the people decide if they want to come or not. Being so negative, "oh, they'll never come" is no way to go through life.

I know Australia has opened up to allow New Zealand tourists in however its a one way ticket at this stage. No quarantine required . Yes, several countries have opened up, a few never closed, but no flights means, might as well be closed. With that said restrictions are varied, and most of the time depends upon the country you’re traveling from... In all Thailand is more restrictive than most, but that’s pretty consistent with SE Asia.

It is out in the world and can not be put back in the vial at the lab. Couple posts up notes "...the virus spreading like wildfire in Europe and the US again..." This is because more and more people are going about their normal lives. Though positive tests are increasing deaths are not increasing, hospitals are not over whelmed. We have learned this virus is not a death sentence. It is not going to wipe humanity off the face of the earth. Methods have been developed to successfully treat it. So, hide in the basement for another month or another 5 years. Eventually, we will all be exposed and test positive. Doesn't mean we will all get sick. Life has got to resume or the burden on society will be too great to over come.
