Residents of Pak Thong Chai town in Nakhon Ratchasima rushed to save their possessions including cars and motorcycles after a flash flood inundated the downtown area.

The local Klong Lam Takut canal that runs by the municipal fresh food market overflowed after water rushed from the Lam Phra Phloeng Dam.

Announcements advised people to move their possessions high up and residents moved their vehicles to Route 304, the Pak Thong Chai to Kabinburi Road.

Thai Rath said that locals were spooked that the flood would mean a repeat of the misery that they endured during the great flood of late 2011 when huge swathes of the country from the north to the suburbs of Bangkok were under extremely deep water for months.
