Close to 2,000 police officers stationed around Bangkok to deal with protesters

Deputy Metropolitan Police chief Pol Maj-General Piya Tawichai said on Tuesday that 12 companies comprising 1,860 police officers have been prepared to deal with protesters, who announced on Monday that they will continue rallying.

Thailand to welcome its first group of STV tourists today

The first group of 41 tourists travelling on the Special Tourist Visa (STV) from Shanghai will land in Suvarnabhumi Airport on Tuesday at 5pm, a second group of 100 people from Guangzhou will fly in on October 26 and another group will be flown in from Shanghai on October 28.

PHUKET:-- Phuket Immigration has confirmed that retirees applying for a one-year permit-to-stay by providing proof of at least B400,000 kept in a Thai bank account plus an income that brings the total funds available to at least B800,000 a year is still being accepted.

An elderly woman has been electrocuted near her house, in the Aranyaprathet district of Thailand’s eastern province of Sa Kaew, as she was wading along a flooded lane without realizing that a high voltage power cable had broken and fallen into the water.
