Popular Post Gandtee
Any comment or discussion on the present student protests is strictly taboo between my wife and I. We have agreed not to get into it to maintain a quiet life. For her, after a lifetime of indoctrination it must be very difficult to listen and accept differing views. Any others out there following the same policy? 2 3

Popular Post nikmar
yep, my wife is a staunch royalist - she cant bare the comments being made. my son is M1 and has started waving 3 fingers about the house. you can imagine the friction. It doesnt help that she constantly watches / reads on line content. I try to understand my wife's feelings - it must be like her whole identity is being stripped away. in the interests of diplomacy and keeping the peace, i keep my mouth firmly shut at home. 8 1 2

A prime example to anyone of why schools should not be allowed to indoctrinate children.....religious schools, in particular, should be banned throughout the world. 13

Was with my misses family yesterday (police) they muttered something about Prayut, and I said I thought he was doing a great job and how I enjoyed being here ........... they all laughed. Not my business, I don't really care who's in charge, he's not worse than the people running my country (UK), or the guy running the USA, or Canada or France or Australia/NZ as far as I can see they're all pretty useless and annoying in different ways while lining their own pockets. My kid just finishing University keeps out of it as well, no money to be made from making waves. Boomer6969
Many of the great democracies of Western Europe are monarchies. My beloved wife understands now that there are models to be followed in the Farang world. She agrees also on the need to promote "out of the box" thinking in the Thai education system.. Obviously I can't elaborate here. 2
Popular Post Orton Rd
My wife is a head in the sand idiot as well, no point discussing it. Anything other than food, family and music does not register. I just took pictures down of two famous people off the wall that have been up for 8 years, she never mentioned it. She has never even voted, an ideal citizen, thank god the younger people are more aware and a lot won't put up with being crapped on any longer???? Might replace the pics with ones of the protest leaders and see if that gets noticed! Edited October 20, 2020 by Orton Rd 4 1 1 1

Yes, annoying, but unlike Prayut they are democratically elected. 13 minutes ago, BritManToo said: no money to be made from making waves. Yup. My lot loath the government, lost faith in the royals after the last changeover, and admire the protesters, but are VERY clear that their focus is growing their business. They understand that getting shot or being mashed into hamburger meat under the tracks of a tank would affect their earnings. I shook his hand once when he came to speak at my university. Seemed like a nice man but my politics today are very different, I can scarcely believe how little common sense I had in the 80s. I marched against things that, in retrospect, I now realise were clearly necessary. 5

Popular Post rkidlad
My missus knows. She doesn't like to admit it but she knows. She's from a middle-class family and has a good job. Her way of coping with Thailand's sordid past and the lies she bought into is to pretend she doesn't care. Just be apathetic and say stuff like, "I have a career and life that I must focus on". I know she doesn't like the government, but she does that annoying thing of saying, "But what can I do? I'm only one person". To which I reply, "you can simply care". I guess there are a lot Thais who are the same. I've always said that if you really wanna galvanize the public, take away their internet. Their ability to go on social media and watch Tiktok videos, etc. And ironically, it wouldn't surprise me if the government tried it. If they blocked the internet for an extended period of time, then you'd get my missus out on the street.

Popular Post Antonymous
My wife can't stand the current regime and we have many discussions about it in private. She gets very upset about the Deleted, but is super reluctant to talk publicly about what she knows is going on. She tells me that nearly all her old school friends, who she keeps in touch with online, are monarchists and against the protesters. Yesterday we were sitting on the terrace and I tuned into a video (published outside Thailand) that showed live footage of the royal motorcade and the protesters in Bangkok shouting at the passing limo. She got in a panic and told me to turn the sound down in case the neighbours heard it. That's how worried she is, as if the walls have ears. But I laughed at her. Then Alexa laughed, Cortana and Siri joined in. We all had a good laugh.... The protesters are brave folk. Most Thai people are too afraid to speak out, in any medium. 8

Wongkitlo
I have seen several Thais in the last few days who have been very upset that it rained on everyone at the end of last week. Before they have said nothing but since then have said how they are so sad for the Thai people.
2 is 1
I think nothing much chance even PM resign. Corruption is too deep in this coundry and it's in every level! Almost everybody make money in every office, so its going to continue dosen't matter who is leader! Maybe if its not army , then they not get so much money. Like buy submarines etc. My wife niece is in Khon Kaen university who we support and pay her school. And wife deny her to take part in protest. She support things in her mind but there it stays!
