Quality tourists who stay a long time or not tourists who use a tourist visa? ????????????‍♂️

So why are they supposedly bringing in Chinese tourists that normally spend little on group tours?

I suspect another smoke and mirrors episode from TAT.

Also, why would tourists come, when their Governments have probably issued do not travel notices to Thailand because of political unrest?

I wonder which quarantine hotels they are staying in. ????????????

1st, the retirees aren't doing multi million baht developments and 2nd, they're all sitting in countries with new waves and spikes in covid cases.

As for the prediction of 6.7 million tourists this year they would have to fully open by Nov 1st and instantly receive 111,666,666 tourists per day.

Given the current situation in BKK I can see that escalating 10 fold if the government announced they were throwing open the doors to the pandemic so the rich and elite could get richer. :wai:

Don't forget about January-March 2020.

There have been no cancellations or any enquiries about it so far and people are following the news," he said.

That's lucky! A couple of cancellations quoted as a percentage is a relatively high number!

Firstly why make silly statements that all retiree's are in high Covid wave/spike countries,i personally know 3 that are not.

Secondly: Get rid of your Abacus, and use a calculator when trying to do daily percentage figures, nearly 112 million required daily??.?????????????

Why not let all of the retirees back first?

They will, in due course, when the countries with high infection rates get their act together and reduce infection, which is currently rising in most of the west.

Coz the Chinese are high rollers...

I think this is where TAT gets its figures of Chinese tourist spending power from. Combine the spend of Chinese business people who come here to buy condos with suitcases of cash and the spend of zero baht tourists and you have an average of high spend of Chinese tourists. TAT have always had a problem with differentiating between true tourists and others. They even include those transferring through a Thai airport as "tourists to Thailand".

"We are in discussions with groups to come from Europe in November," he added.

Interesting that they now say they're only in the "discussion" phase, considering that this was reported here in late September:

"The third flight mentioned by the media will be on November 1st from what they termed "prathet Scandinavia" or "the country of Scandinavia".

"This  will contain 120 passengers and also be bound for Suvarnabhumi."

So I guess that was completely invented...?

These Chineses are not tourists!

Absolutely.  They are puppets being used in a game to try and convince anybody that wants to listen. And the next batch are also from China, does anybody actually understand why any country would entertain people fro the country where the Pandemic actually started. It's all to do with the "old pals act" must have great jobs when they can stay away from them for 90 days ????????

They've certainly, finally, found an easy excuse to weed out the undesirables... Force a $2000 hotel stay. Of which I'm sure they take a hefty cut. People cashing in on Covid like there's no tomorrow. Stay scared, stay tuned.

The Thai man on the street doesn't welcome this move and would prefer the borders to remain closed, particularly for Chinese tourists as they still remember who brought Covid to Thailand in the first place. They are actually feared not welcomed.

The average Chinese tourist stays, on average, one to two weeks in Thailand. Chinese staying up to 6 months, definitely not tourists.

So the headline couldn't have got it more wrong. "Thailand welcomes back tourists", not welcome and not tourists.

particularly for Chinese tourists as they still remember who brought Covid to Thailand in the first place. They are actually feared not welcomed.

Covid arrived from China with ONE woman from Wuhan!

Plus they must have been absent from their jobs for a couple of weeks prior to arriving as they would have been on standby during the "they're coming this week, no they're not, its next week" saga.

Presumably the ones that have arrived wont be travelling as a group once quarantine is over as we all know that groups of five or more aren't allowed under the emergency rules. Or are those "rules" only applied selectively?

All "tourists" will now be required to wear a special costume.... called a PeeSate Suit .

Comes in 6 different colors !!   Now added to the "list".

Note:  just humor (as of this posting)
