Maybe the people that come up with these ideas could join the second of the classes suggested!

Should be a one day affair:

Morning to noon, test if two functioning brain cells exist.

If positive, afternoon session to teach subject how to rub them together.

????????????

This must surely be a very shoddy translation -- or else the figures won't make any sense at all.

60 ships with 650 people on board, or just under 10 people per vessel on average? Or does this perhaps mean 60 ships, EACH of them having 650 people on board?

And then these 650 people generate up to 2.1 billion baht, or about 32.3 million per person? Wildly inconceivable. Yes, if it were 60 ships with 650 passengers EACH, that would of course come down to a more reasonable 53,000 or so per person.

And which cruise ship exactly is normally docking in a single port for 14 days? Or do passengers already begin their quarantine while still being on the high seas?

More like a shoddy interpretation.

Some 60 ships with about 650 people on board have applied to anchor in Thailand. The passengers can generate revenue of up to Bt2.1 billion if they are allowed to step on land after undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine on board and taking the three RT-PCT tests offered.

What has he been snorting, because according to my calculations 2.1 billion baht divided by 650 =  over 3 million baht per person, even if you take into consideration the cost to quarantine them, it's still a fail, no doubt he didn't major in math.

what cruise stops in a port 14 + X days? ????????

Which ships would apply to anchor without knowing the requirements.

But not knowing the requirements is nothing unusual on here.

The three models, which kick in after the 14-day mandatory quarantine, are:

If these people have already gone through the 14 day quarantine, why would they need or want another government-sponsored program afterwards, rather than just leaving and going about their business?

A great opportunity here for Thailand to run "Bangkok Hilton" live packages.  14 days quarantined in the Bangkok Hilton Prison, living like a prisoner, doing prison stuff like avoiding showers.  I read that the government wants to open up tours of the prison so this is a great chance to combine objectives

I am under the impression that Cruise Ships normally tour various ports with a stop in each for tourist to go ashore.  Normally a different ort each day and travel at night..

Now, isn't that a good way to collect Covid from every country as you go?

Older tourists on a weight loss program?

That's more like it.  If my wife puts together a diet + exercise routine for the next year, will I be allowed home?

Guess I will have to gain weight so I can sign up for the weight loss program. : (

I didn't know cruise ships docked for more than 14 days at a single location

Ahhh, did home quarantine for long term expats stuck outside Thailand but want to return ( who"s wives "own" a house or houses)  ever cross your questionable  brains?

No because those who did that early on did not stay where they should have and it wasnt just Thailand but most countries had the same problem.

I’m getting fed up writing the same thing which is “ More BS from ministers who cannot grasp reality in that the normal everyday tourist is never going to come to Thailand whilst any form of quarantine is a stipulation .

Try copy and paste as you need to use this text at least 3 times a day.

Quite... the holes in this report are large enough to fit 49 Chinese tourists through.

Its a shameful translation or actual information from the govt that should never have got to print.

Has the proof reader died of covid?

I must be missing something.

Why is an additional quarantine package of any type needed after the mandatory 14 day quarantine?

If these were alternative forms of the initial 14 day Q it would make some sense. But as presented makes matters worse not better.

A cruise ship could easily become a massive, mobile, Covid incubator.  Either one person joins with Covid and infects the other passengers, or it is picked up at the first port call and passed round the ship.

No-one is going to join a cruise where they are confined to their own cabin.  One point of a cruise is the socialising onboard.

This is total nonsense by TAT.   Nothing new here.

Does anyone know how many cruise ships are in operation in SE Asia at the moment.  I suspect not many, certainly not 60.

16 days in a spa or a massage shop doesn’t really sound like a quarantine. Are the therapists one per guest or do they wear full hazmat suits?

Could it be that the government just identified two new groups of visitors that are welcome: longstayers at spas or medical centres?

A one-month package for the elderly, featuring physical therapy, brain training, yoga, meditation, massage, weight loss, stress reduction, basic exercise. Some 20 venues are being considered.

Come to Thailand for brain training? I guess the former indicates the necessity of the latter.
