OIC Helps Victims of Gas Pipe Explosion

BANGKOK, Oct 24 (TNA) – The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) offers assistance to affected people in the gas pipe explosion which killed three people and injured 50 others. 


OIC secretary-general Suthipol Taweechaikarn said the explosion of a gas pipe of PTT Plc near Prengwisutthatibodee School in Bang Bo district of Samut Prakan killed three people, injured 50 others and damaged 34 houses, 62 cars and 59 motorcycles on Oct 22. 

 

He assigned OIC officials supervising welfare and insurance in Samut Prakan and Chon Buri provinces to quickly survey damage and facilitate insurance compensation for affected people.

The other point is that pipelines are provided with 3 types of warning on location and depth.

Above ground a system of concrete posts along the line of sight of the buried pipe showing depth, size and what is in the pipe.

Next at a fixed depth is a tape with words gas or oil etc pipe.

Further down is a layer of cement/concrete slabs at a fixed height above the pipe.

To damage a buried gas pipeline means all 3 have been ignored.
