Popular Post webfact
'People must brace for new-normal lifestyle for at least two years before Covid-19 is contained' By The Nation Dr Yong Poovorawan, a specialist in virology at Chulalongkorn University. The Covid-19 pandemic may take about two years to slow down, after a large number of people become infected and become immune to the disease and around 60 per cent of world population receive a vaccine, a medical expert said on Sunday. Dr Yong Poovorawan, a specialist in virology at Chulalongkorn University, said the "new normal lifestyle" is needed for at least two years until the population has been immunised to levels that are higher than the herd immunity figure. Speaking of achieving herd immunity, he said when the majority of people become immune to Covid-19, either through infection and recovery or enough vaccination, then the disease will not spread. Giving an analogy, he said: “It is like a person who has immunity is a white sheep, and a person without immunity is a black sheep. If there are mostly white sheep in the herd, germs or dangers that could befall the black sheep would be kept at bay because the white sheep surrounding it would make it difficult for the invaders,” said Dr Yong. As for Covid-19, it is estimated that 60 per cent or more of the group should have immunity, or immunity should be acquired by vaccination of at least 60 per cent of the population, then the virus can be contained, but that does not mean it has been eradicated, he cautioned. Popular Post simon43
"New normal lifestyle"? I'm intrigued also as to what this is. My lifestyle is absolutely unchanged. I can only think it refers to international travel, which certainly has been affected. Otherwise, no changes here.... 37

But here in Laos there have been no deaths from Covid and only about 22 cases, most of which have recovered and left hospital. Nothing in my lifestyle has changed at all, with the exception of postponing a shopping trip to Bangkok. I always wore a mask when entering shops anyway (I don't to spread any kind of airborne pathogen and don't want those from others). Many people in the shops do likewise. 7 1

Well let's see, now we have the Old New Normal, then the Now New Normal and next the Who knows WTH Future Normal. Nothing normal as to this ridiculous statement by people of new normal. It is just a new day with a new way to live that is ever changing, just like society in general.
Popular Post holy cow cm
The new normal will be more monitoring and suppression coming under the CV19 rules allowing an easy way to keep your country inline if they want immediate other changes. The world really needs to slap China hard and heavy for this. For the US, by the way they are going and not following having so many outbreaks, they should have herd immunity really fast being almost ahead of the game. On the other hand, except for my friends from the US coming to visit me or me being able to travel outwards to do some business and travel, life is in a sense not so bad. Popular Post Crusader
The 'new normal'...well living in bangkok - life is as life was. The only changes I have had to make is to wear a face mask and get temp checks on entering some places. Out yesterday in the mid-Sukhumvit road area - many more people not wearing masks these days, and not everywhere is checking temp when entering. I must admit that I did not like wearing a mask at first, but now it is an automatic action to put it on - just like you would a helmet to ride a motorcycle...but then...many <deleted> don't do that. 9

I agree with everything you have stated. Out last night in Chinatown for the last night of the Vegetarian festival and the only place I saw those without masks being denied entry was when trying to enter the MRT at Wat Mongkon. Otherwise, probably a 50/50 mix as people walked around the booths and side sois. The majority are the younger groups who are carefree once again.
