geovalin
The Preah Vihear provincial health department, has provided quality health services to 127 Laotians so far this year. Koung Lo, provincial department director, said yesterday many Laotians come to Kampong Sralao Health Centre and Kampong Preah In Health Centre in Chhep district for medical treatment. “Lao people come to be treated for respiratory infections, colds, sore throats, other common ailments and for childbirth,” Lo said. “Centres and health posts charge the same fees for everyone and it is free of charge if they are poor.” He said that compared with last year, there is a decrease in the number of Laotian patients due to this year’s COVID-19 outbreak and both countries have restrictions on people crossing the Cambodian-Laos border. “Even though the COVID-19 patient count in Laos is only around 24, we are still concerned and vigilant about it,” he said. “When they come to Cambodia, we take their temperature and require them to wear a mask and wash their hands. If they rest at the health centre, we put them in beds one and a half metres apart.” read more https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50776743/laotians-flock-to-kingdom-for-healthcare/

Sheryl
127 patients in a 10 month period is hardly "flocking". The location is very near the Lao border. Quite possible these 2 health centers are closer to Lao people living near the Cambodian border than any of the Lao facilities. It has long been common for Cambodians living near the VN border to utilize health facilities there, for same reason.
TheFreqFlyer
Kampong Sralau, been there many times, is a tiny village on the Cambodian bank with perhaps one small clinic. The locals there mostly speak Laotian as a native language rather than Khmer. During normal times, you can visit without the need for a passport or visa on day trips from the Lao side. Perhaps they are still not enforcing this rule much for locals during covid-19, though I'd surprised.
