aussienam
Hi all, I have a rare inner ear disease that requires me at times to seek Dexamethasone intratympanic injections (injection through eardrum.to administer steroid to absorb into cochlear) I know there would be some out there with Meniere's disease, Cochlear Hydrops and Autoimmune inner ear disease that would know of this process. I am hopefully coming back to Thailand soon (stranded expat) to Pattaya. I have had them done at Bangkok Pattaya hospital but the charges are very high. Wondering if any seasoned expats suffering ear diseases know of other locations with a decent ENT, Oto-tologist, Otolaryngologist who they recommend and charges reasonable fees? Sheryl
The ones I know of are far from Pattaya and the travel costs would likely outweigh the savings...especially since most of these are government hospital where waits will be very long and may require more than one visit to accomplish what you need to or even get an appointment for it. E.g.: 1. Prof Niran Hunchaisri at HRH Princess Maha Chakri Srindihorn Medical Ct in Ongharak, Nakorn Nayok http://medicine.swu.ac.th/enmsmc/ 2. Dr. Suprapol Chantapant at Vichaiyut Hospital in Bangkok https://www.vichaiyut.com/en/profile_doctor/dr-suprapol-chantapant/ 3. Assoc. Prof. M.L. Kornkiat Snidvongs at Chulalongkorn in Bkk (access through the after hours clinic, 13th floor OPD building). This is fairly specialized and only few ENTS do it. You could try emailing Gavin Waddell (International liaison) at Phyathai Sri Racha and asking if any docs there do it, likely not but no harm in asking. If so it will cost less than BPH but not by a huge amount. [email protected] or [email protected]

Have Professor specialist here in Gold Coast whilst still stranded in Oz. Ultra qualified and surgeon as well. Fantastic, incredibly intelligent and efficient. He charged me $100 AUD for follow up consultations + injection all inclusive. Won't get that sort of price in Thailand unfortunately and Australia is 1st world. Sad we are severely overcharged there. :( Especially if you need multiple injections over a relapse. Either that or suffer more permanent hearing loss. Sux. But my choice to be in Thailand. Have to accept we are charged 'foreigner' rates at massive profits.
