The government’s “Khon La Khrueng” (Let’s Go Halves) campaign achieved its target of 10 million registrants by around 10pm on Tuesday, a news source reported.

The three-month economic package started on October 16 in a bid to stimulate domestic consumption.

Under the Kon La Khreung scheme, 10 million people can avail of daily discounts on their shopping of up to Bt150, capped at Bt3,000. Merchants had to register through the website www.คนละครึ่ง.com from October 1.

With 10 million people having signed up, registration is now closed. Registrants can spend under the scheme until December 31.

Users who have signed up are receiving an SMS instructing them to download and install the Pao Tang application, through which they can spend money shopping and receive a Bt150 discount daily.

Users can also visit the www.คนละครึ่ง.com website and find shops that participate in the campaign, which are divided into four categories – food and beverage, Blue Flag shops, Otop shops and general products.

The Finance Ministry reported on October 26 that so far 380,000 merchants had registered to participate in the campaign.

Accumulated spending is Bt704.5 million, Bt362.5 million from registrants and a Bt342-million subsidy from the government.

The ministry also reported that the three provinces with the most spending are Bangkok, Songkhla and Nakhon Si Thammarat, while the average spending per time is Bt232.
