Popular Post webfact
Tourism ministry comes out in defence of STV scheme Picture: Daily News A workshop conducted by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports featured a lower ranking official defending the ministry's actions on the subject of reopening the country to foreign tourism. Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn was not in attendance. Instead he had sent a subordinate in the form of Chote Trachu. Chote said that the ministry had been liaising with all interested parties in the government and tourism sectors to find a way forward that was appropriate in terms of public health needs and the needs of opening up the country and economy. His words came as the Bank of Thailand suggested that what has been done so far will have little effect on the economy and more needs to be done to rescue the devastated tourism sector that makes up 20% of Thai GDP. Chote defended his ministry speaking of collaboration with the CCSA (Covid-19 response center) in visiting Phuket, Surat Thani and Krabi and in sub-committee visits to Phuket and Koh Samui. He said that all opinions had been sought including those of the public. He said that the ministry was "confident and ready" and claimed that it had the confidence of tourists and the Thai public. He highlighted the arrival of 41 tourists on the Special Tourism Visa as an example of the good work done so far. WOW such an amazing job particularly as the 41 "tourists" who left China actually became 39 "business people" who arrived in Bangkok! 9

Pathetic exaggeration by TAT, 39 turn into 41. Back in the old days it would've been 41 0000. 2

Read "reopening the country to foreign...money!" because this has been their obsession since they started looking for solutions. As far as I know, when Spain or Greece tentatively reopened to tourism, they didn't ask for the candidate tourists to show the content of their wallet first. Thailand has been showing a very ugly face to the world during these past months, and this out of bounds greed could end up causing more harm than the covid 19 in the long run... tomauasia
Bringing the enemy in as tourists is a big slap in the face to Thai nationals. It also shows the huge hatred for real tourists being farangs. Furthermore what about all the married and retired citizens you left out deliberately. You and your whole administration need to leave office. What a joke honestly. Your rotten.

Is this clown seriously trying to make a big hooha out of the arrival of something like 0.000001% of Thailand's normal arrivals in a year ? I guess these fools get a huge governmental bonus if they can get it to 500 in month
Cali farong
But aren’t these the super wealthy who will spend at least a million baht. They decided to fly in on the cut rate airline instead of their personal jets so they could buy more trinkets

Flying Saucage
Another ridiculous attempt to save face for having done an embarrasing move, introduced by a total inept ministry of an even more inept government of criminal dinosours. This is Thailand. The center of the world, they believe. 1
