So he came from Hong Kong. Just thought they'd throw in the bit about the US because he was there sometime before going to HK. See how it works? He would already have undergone at least a 14 day quarantine before being admitted into HK. If he cleared that, then he must have contracted COVID from HK. So why was the US added to this story?

  • "As of July 29, travelers who have visited the United States within the past 14 days are required to quarantine in a hotel for a 14-day period and must have a hotel reservation prior to boarding a flight to Hong Kong."   https://hk.usconsulate.gov/covid-19-information/

Probably in transit in HK

They should really consider testing the Thais before allowing them onto the flights.

The flights are the weak link when untested people are allowed on them.

Would they be allowed to travel if found positive before boarding?

According to the Thai rules they should be locked up for at least a few weeks.

In the UK the law says they can't go anywhere, I guess it depends on which airport they're traveling from.

I think no, they would not be allowed to travel - under the law.

Amazing how little they have tested.... If u don't look you won't find...

I know of not ONE person to have got Covid. How many do you know?

Thailand has done very well, much better than Western countries.

Amazing how successful we have been to limit the number of cases.

True that Thailand is protecting itself very well from a second wave.

However, as most cases appear asymptomatic and given other factors its possible that Covid-19 pass through Thailand unidentified in Nov, Dec, Jan...  with reported numbers of viral pneumonia spiking (reported at the time).

Since then a firm lock down on international incoming travel and strict quarantine has clearly had in impact.

Whether the full lock down is necessary is another discussion ‘cure worse than the disease’...

Thailand has done very well, much better than Western countries.

An article in the Lancet reports 0.8 to 4.0% fast positives in the UK for Covid-19 RT PCR Testing.

Thus:

- On 23rd October there were 346,671 Covid-19 RT PCR tests carried out (in the UK)

- On 23rd October there were 20,530 positive Covid-19 RT PCR tests reported (in the UK)

Up to positive 13866 tests; 67% of positive tests ‘could’ be false positives - I wonder if the figure of false positives is not actually higher.

The UK and the rest of the world is clearly testing itself into a huge panic - poor isolation and lockdown has also impacted the UK. Many of the cases are also genuine and there is little doubt Covid-19 has had a major impact, much in the same way a major influenza outbreak would.

Not to detract from Thailands measures which remain as water tight as possible. However, studies have shown a genetic link between those suffering from severe Covid-19 symptoms and the absence of a genetic Haplotype in South East Asians, Africans and Amazonian and ties back evolutionary links to Neanderthal man.

Its possible those of Genetic East Asian decent have a genetic advantage where Covid-19 is concerned.
