Passed an old broken down cottage and the old guy inside had set up a trestle table with dozens of plastic beakers filled with Tizer on it. 3d a beaker. Didn't sell anything but Tizer. Never even saw a bottle of Coca Cola until I was 16. Funny you should mention the plastic beakers ... I don't ever remember seeing Tizer come in any kind of labelled container, it was always just in small plastic cups Edited October 28, 2020 by CraigInBangkok

Shopkeeper was onto us and wouldn't give us our money, so we kicked off until he threatened to call the police. Still have no idea how he sussed us. Did the same. My Uncle had a chip shop and put a felt tip pen marker on the bottom of ALL his full bottles and if he accepted other returned empty bottles they got a different mark, so he knew if they were his. We knew to only take empty bottles to bigger shops who did not do the marking.

faraday
Anyone remember Pimm's Lemonade? Dad used to buy us a bottle on a Friday night, from the offy. Only sussed out years later it was a cover up so he could buy something for himself. Bit like him telling us that smoking got rid of mosquitoes. Or 5 Park Drive, which were absolutely disgusting! Sovereign were rough, but wasn't there another Players - in a red pack - No.10? They were favourite, as you could fit them in the barrel of a "Platignum"" fountain pen if you used an Ösmiroid"ink cartridge - they were shorter than the "Platignum"ones. Along with a red tip match (would strike on anything}. Then down to the back of the CCF huts for a quick smoke in lunch time. All went a bit Pete Tong when my pen ran out of ink and I had to change the cartridge during an English test, whilst sitting in the front row. The teacher, Bill Currie thought it was very funny, but then Bill (God rest his soul) had been a Glider Pilot in the war. After flying into Italy, Normandy and the Rhine crossing he really didn't give a flying <deleted> about anything, and was no fan of authority. A great man and a brilliant schoolmaster.
