Tests find French woman did not contract Covid-19 in Samut Prakan hotel

Dr Sopon Iamsirithaworn

Dr Sopon Iamsirithaworn, director of the Disease Control Department’s Bureau of General Communicable Diseases, said on Thursday the French patient’s test did not match that of two other foreign guests at the same hotel who tested positive. He said tests showed the woman had contracted the infection 17 days earlier, which rules out the Samut Prakan hotel.

“Though we haven’t found the source of her infection, we still have to revise our guidelines for alternative state quarantine sites and cut down the risk of spreading the virus,” Dr Sopon said.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, meanwhile, said guidelines for hotels used as quarantine sites will have to be reviewed after traces of Covid-19 virus were found on the gym equipment of the Samut Prakan hotel where the French woman had been staying.

Seems like an attempt to throw it back into the farang world to me - though, clearly now showing that their testing kits are clearly showing flaws - just how many infected have they let in with 66% test negatives when they are positive ? ?

don't know, lets ask the experts..

If they haven't found the source for just this one person, what makes you think they really have this contained?

Could be a lot more people out there, such as Isaan, where my family says one one has ever been around to test anyone?

Remarkable !

Thai testing can point to the date you got infected ? Could she not have contracted it AFTER leaving quarantine ?

Or is it more towards keeping the "Covid free Thailand " image ?

She “could” have caught it after leaving quarantine, but that would mean she was infected and developed symptoms in 2 days, which would be remarkably quick ! So it is much more likely she caught it before coming to Thailand but was slow to develop a big enough viral dose to test positive. That’s not unknown, which makes the idea of reducing quarantine to 10 days a bit dubious.

Now that the govt is saying the woman didn't catch COVID in Thailand I expect that is due to the original investigators in the Red Bull case now being used as medical experts.   Expect more flip-flops in the govt's story over the coming days.

BREAKING

Source of infection of the "French" visitor now revealed.

After testing all her belongings, we finally found the source where the infection came from.

A bottle of "Red Bordeaux" which she bought at the local 8-12 (similar to the 7-11 here) in Monaco, was identified as the source of Covid.

Please don't drink any farang wine. It might get you sick.

How can a test that only has two possible results (positive or negative), show when an infection occurred?

That's the new Thai test kit, available at your local 7-11

It tells you exactly when and where you watched it and even from who.

Absolutely impossible!!!

Tests can show if you have it or if you don't.

That's all. Never heard such BS.

This lady that contracted Covid, was never going to have contracted it in Thailand.

It could never be possible

She seems to have contracted it 17 Days earlier than setting foot on Thai soil, and the talk is to reduce Quarantine to only 10 days.

Good Luck with that

The hotel cannot be totally exonerated of being CV19 free if traces of the virus were found in the gym. I wonder what influential person owns the Samut Prakan hotel? After all it would affect future ASQ bookings...

It shouldn't happen again. There will be no further quarantine there if this article is correct:
