Thai Health Ministry to tighten anti-COVID-19 measures at quarantine facilities

Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health is considering adjustments to the COVID-19 preventive measures at more than 100 hotels under the alternative state quarantine programme, as well as any use of common facilities by those in quarantine at such locations. The move is to avoid a repeat of an incident in Samut Prakan province, where coronavirus was found on fitness equipment and three people staying there, including a French tourist, were found to be infected.

Committee Agrees to Reduce Travel Quarantine

BANGKOK,(TNA) – The National Communicable Disease Committee agreed to reduce travel quarantine to 10 days from 14 days in Thursday’s meeting, said Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Ministry Anutin  Charnvirakul.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's finance ministry on Thursday upgraded its 2020 gross domestic product forecast to a 7.7% contraction, still a record, from the 8.5% decline projected earlier, helped by government measures to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Finance Ministry lifts growth forecast to -7.7% after signs of recovery

Adviser to the Fiscal Policy Office Pornchai Threeravej, centre, says the recovering Thai economy will grow by 4.5 per cent next year.

 

Seeing signs of recovery, the Finance Ministry has revised its economic forecast for this year, predicting a contraction of 7.7 per cent rather than the previous 8.5 per cent.

BMA observing Loy Krathong under new normal

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Loy Krathong festival will be celebrated on October 31 this year. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is aranging an event encouraging people to take part in Loy Krathong activities in new normal circumstances. The event aims to protect people from contracting COVID-19 and limit waste by asking members of the Thai public to float only one krathong basket per family.
