Those who understand politics in Malaysia will know that politicians like Mahathir is pandering to his own Muslim base and exploiting the base instinct of the Malays with this kind of foul espousal of Islam. He was able to cling to power as PM for 22 years by being an ultra Malay conservative; guaranteeing the support from the majority Malay electorates. He is still power crazy and has ambition to the PM again. He rode the coat-tail of Pakatan Harapan who won the election in 2018 and became PM; much to do with his ability to bring in the Malay votes. He subsequently resigned from a poorly conceived power play. He is now re-launching another attempt to be PM. I believe that his latest comment is part of his overall plan. Most Malaysia condemned his tweet. I don't think what he said is a representation of the overall feelings of the people. Malaysia is a safe place. I live there for over 15 years.

Is it? Its the answer. You will never see a physical depiction of Mohammed by a moslem. They don't exist.

But they're not. I was eating a pie outside a bakery school in Georgetown when a group of students came out and started talking to me. They were all Malay Chinese. Really intelligent. I asked them why they had decided to attend a bakery school and they replied, "Its the best we could get as the Malaysian government discriminates against us when trying to gain entry to the better schools". Really sad.

The French can run their country as they see fit.  Muslims should no longer attempt to move to democratic countries, unless they can follow the constitution and laws.  It appears the only want to set up their own communities~not integrate with the country or culture.

Absolutely right:

- if you embrace French core values - we don't care if you're a Muslim or not.

- if you oppose French core values - then you side with Islamists and it's a different story
