I'm not limiting news solely to events in Thailand. I thought you meant Thai news because you mentioned Thai newspapers. My primary news source is the Washington Post website which I do subscribe to. I read many sources but I'm particularly impressed with the Atlantic magazine. Predictably the main tv channels I watch are CNN and MSNBC. I used to watch BBC a lot but currently don't have access. Also used to watch Fox alot to see what the right wing was up to but it was making me vomit so I stopped. A site I like that directs you to a wide variety of articles and links that you wouldn't otherwise see is digg.com I don't use Facebook for news. AndyAndyAndy
I follow only programming & work related stuff since like 7 years ago. When I cut out all that BS. Rest is what people around me mention in conversation & what I see while visiting random sites like this forum once a month. For example yesterday wife told me there is 'big vote if america king is Trump or white hair man'. I had no idea. There could be next 9/11 or third world war. And if tanks didn't park on my backyard I wouldn't know. It is sometimes happening when reading Wikipedia and I'm seeing plane crashes with 400 dead in 2017, shootings with 80 dead in 2018, and all that stuff and for me it is completely new information. And I couldn't be happier!!! ???? Edited November 6, 2020 by AndyAndyAndy

So you are getting biased news in the favor of your choice. At least Fox gave you another perspective to ponder, all be it they are the #1 rated news network in the country, by far. The sad thing is that we no longer have unbiased, neutral, news reporting. We are being manipulated by powerful corporations. I just read today 3 articles posted next to each other on the web. Once said the US postal service found no unreported voting ballets, and it is all Trump hysteria. Another said only 15 ballots were found, and another article said almost 2,000 ballots were found at the USPS in Pennsylvania. What is the truth? Media has no accountability and will continue to lie to us. As for Thailand, I happen to read Bangkok Post, The Nation, and any other website in English about Thai issues. I enjoy them all. 6

Popular Post chickenslegs
The Guardian (AKA Gruniad for those of us of a certain age). Maybe somewhat left leaning, but as honest as most (IMO). I still have great faith in the impartiality of the BBC. Despite dissenting voices from both the left and right, I can't think of any news source that is more trustworthy. For local news I rely on the Thai ladies grapevine (gossip). It may not be 100% accurate, but it's way faster than the internet. 3

Popular Post thaibeachlovers
I try not to look at any news media except Al Jazira because they are all beholden to the advertisers. I have found that not looking at or reading news makes me far less stressed and angry. What I see on TVF is more than enough. I've been watching several tv news channels with the election in the US, but I'll be happy to stop again once it's over.

BBC is as biased against Trump as CNN, in my opinion, but at least they don't spend the entire time attacking him. I've never understood the fascination the BBC has with Africa, of which they spend an extraordinary amount of air time on. Isn't there enough news in the UK to spend more time reporting that? The only tv news I give any respect to is Al Jazeera, as they don't need advertising, but even they, IMO are anti Trump. 3

Popular Post allanos
There is a bias built in to all editorial, commentary, programming, "documentaries", etc., be it by the Board (led by advertising revenue), the managing editor (whose own bias will impact content), and the journalist or director (who will write opinion, or create a documentary, according to the slant they are aiming for). It is common cause that most of the main stream media, and ALL of the social media, are left-wing. Consequently, we can expect to see their biases rear their ugly heads, and in many forms, shapes and guises. As to the BBC, gone are the days when one could rely on the ethics or non-partisan reporting they were famous for. I login to the BBC website every day, and the bias against Trump (often subtly, but there, nevertheless) is disgraceful. I have written numerous letters to them on the subject and have yet to receive even one reply or acknowledgement. That is not to say that I look to them for positive comment about the US President. He seems to be admired and loathed in equal measure all over the world. But, from a once-revered news organ, I would at least expect them to take a neutral stance. Their commentary around Brexit was in a similar vein, strongly supporting "remain". Now, perhaps they are playing to their audience, but, certainly as regards Brexit, they have been caught on the hop, and seen for what they truly are. 2

I'm pretty sure I've seen some advertising on BBC, but I stopped watching BBC years ago as it seems to spend a lot of time on football, yawn, and stories about Africa, a country I have little interest in. The cable tv in Chiang Mai ( WETV ) didn't even carry it- probably too little demand for it.

Sometimes they get a guest on that has the wrong point of view, and the host is trying to get them to toe the line. I sometimes watch BBC when Fox has ads and CNN is too hard to stomach. 2

Mostly the best information is from responses that expand on the OP. IMO journalism is mostly opinion nowadays. It's rare to see an unbiased news article and local tv is so dire I don't watch any of it- don't even have my own tv- waste of time and far too many ads. Actually that isn't entirely true- I do watch HGTV and Al Jazira on a friend's tv sometimes, but never the news, or the dire programs they have now. While the election is on, I have been watching BBC, Al Jazira, Fox, CNN and RT, but soon as it's over it'll just be Al Jazira.

LALes
I stopped watching all corporate news. No Fox, no CNN, no MSNBC, no BBC, no ABC, NBC, or CBS either. These channels are ok for news that is not political. As soon as things get political, I go to Youtube for Jimmy Dore, Kyle Kulinsky and The Hill Rising. RT and Al Jazeera are good from cable. Stay away from corporate propaganda.
